Janet and Lionel LeMorvan have created a classic French restaurant in the heart of Aptos. The menu features French favorites such as Coq Au Vin, spectacular roast duck in a blueberry gastric, fall-off the bone lamb shanks served over a tasty ratatouille and the best house-made country pate this side of Paris! The ambiance of the restaurant is stylish, french country style featuring art by local artists and made even more welcoming by the LeMorvan couple. The wine list is superb, with selections from both France and California. Save room for dessert, as all are made in house and feature something for every taste -- including a daily special dessert. You won't be disappointed by headed to Aptos, and winding up in Paris at MaMaison!
This place was horrid, I don't normally write reviews, but I just had to speak up. The Croquettes de Crabe were so terribly over salted my wife and I were unable to eat the dish. For my main course I ordered the Coquilles Saint Jacques, presentation the excellent, but one of the damn scallops were under cooked (clear and luke warm). I wanted to inform the owner of the food, not even seeking compensation, she was extremely rude and confrontational. Southern Exposure was sooo much better, why did they have to go? MaMaison couldn't deliver quality product and then couldn't deal.
Simply amazing food. French cuisine that rivals what you will find in the city or wine country. Don't forget to try the crab cakes, which are local award winners. Also has a nice wine list - handsome and worthy bottles at fair/mid-range prices.
