Went for the first time to Exchange Street Bistro with my husband the day before Valentine's Day. We didn't have reservations but went in around 5:30pm and got seated right away. Service was great. Food was excellent and arrived in a timely manner. Prices weren't too bad. Very nice decor, urban chic. Very surprised was not expecting a restaurant like this in Malden. Will be going back again.
I went there yesterday (11/8/09) for brunch. Audrey, our waitress, was very nice and helpful. I found that the whole staff was very nice too. The food was excellent along with the drinks and atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable and I would go there again.
I’m a regular bar customer at ESB I enjoy they’re seasonally changing martini and food menu. It’s on my way home from work it’s a guaranteed great meal, drinks and service. Just last week I decided to reserve a spot for myself and nine other coworkers to come in for dinner and celebrate a birthday. They went above and beyond, since I wanted something quiet in the back the kindly pushed tables together to accommodate the ten of us, water glasses and warm bread and menus were ready on the table as we arrived and we wanted to bring our own cake which they brought out at the end with candles then it was brought back into the kitchen and cut for us to avoid the mess. I expected a good meal and still left impressed everything Daily Tapas appetizer to the Dover Sole special they were running this weekend was mouth watering. The management is very involved (checked on us twice to make sure everything was going great) and service was professional. Definitely coming back for my own birthday!

My wife and I have frequented this place a several times due to the proximity to our residence...for the price or a little more, you can get a better meal in Boston (eg: Dali's, Elephant Walk, Blue Room, EVOO, 75 Chestnut, Pierrot Bistro, Oleana...etc)...but for us, the convenience was nice...Ie. I would rather go to other Cambridge or Boston restaurants. Food is decent most of the time, service is consistently average to poor, drinks are overpriced for Malden. If there are more than 5-8 couples in the restaurant, things seem to start going down hill fast...and if there is a local tv celebrity (like there was the other night when a local tv food critic was there) don't expect anything to go right -- they were falling over the celeb and quite a few customers suffered (we got the wrong meals, the food was burnt/overcooked, service horrendous, even by their standards...and...they didn't even try to remedy the situation -- because they were so wrapped up by serving the celeb...). Neglecting customers is the line I draw on not going back to a restaurant...it is the service industry...and as such, below poor on the service is the point where I just will not go back for a $100 meal for 2 people.
For an alternative I would recommend All Seasons or Artichokes, both are just around the block (or go to Melrose for Sterns Hill or Turners). Tastier food, cheaper, better service and all round better experience. The servers at those places try harder...and the live music at All Seasons is a much better environment. I hate to make comparisons...but...that is just the case.
THIS PLACE SHOULD BE IN VEGAS

i was here last week for lunch. can i just say, best burger ever!!!!! i cant believe it! melted in my mouth. the atmosphere is great , booths are comfy. The place was spotless, management friendly and inviteing and service exceptional. i cant wait to come back for dinner and drinks!
I came to exchange street twice this past week, first my friends and I were looking for a place to go for some drinks we herd about exchange street bistro from seeing it on the Phantom Gourmet so we decided to try it out, amazing experience. So many martinis to choose from its not possible to ever get bored with your drink. The bartenders were friendly and took their time with each individual drink making it perfect. I enjoyed myself so much I brought my parents back for dinner. We loved everything the Filet Mignon, and Pork Chop is mouth watering we finished off with the Chocolate Explosion and I will definitely be back to eat that again!
My First experience at ESB was this past (5/17/08)Saturday. We are a group of six that go out to dinner every Saturday evening. The ambiance & decor was upscale as was the pricing and al la carte selections from their menu. For the higher prices charged one would thing that the food quality and chef creations would be better than the average fare offered at many of the other resturants in the area. This was not the case. I do not believe that we will go back.
