My fiancée and I have dined at the Melting Pot several times, and always left feeling good about our experience. However, tonight was different. Chris provided perfect service. I mean outstanding, every question answered, every request filled in a timely manner, always present, concerned with our dining experience, FUNNY, informative, and just friendly. I worked in food service for 4+ years at a upscale casual italian restaurant where points of service were a way of life. They were drilled into us. I am sometimes critical of servers as a result, and it takes a lot for a server to impress me. Chris delivered the best service I've had in a year. Both my fiancée and I were blown away at the level of service he provided. We dine out frequently, from burger joints to upscale steakhouses, and this was the first time, in a long time, that we felt like we were a priority to our server, and not just a table number. Chris' attention to detail, and genuine concern with our dining experience has ensured that we will be back at the Gate Parkway location and that we will bring our friends. The food was terrific (it always is) and the managing partner stopped by our table to check on the quality of our meal. He was very friendly also, and advised us on the different sauces served with the third course. The Big Night Out combined with terrific service made tonight a perfect night for us. I sincerely thank you.
Best meal I’ve had in ages. Our food was wonderful and the service was exceptional. Rori was our server and she did a great job! Very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. And did I mention the chocolate: to die for! Can’t wait to come back.
i added some pics of what to expect and if you are looking at this place for a good night out away from the kids or to celebrate a special occasion, or are just wanting to try something new, PLEASE dont pass it up. despite what some tacky people are posting (who probably dont eat out often or shouldnt eat out anyhow) this place is one we frequent and will as long as the doors are open.
you can basically expect to not have a seat(ive been denied too but i dont take it personally, as i love this place)when there was a weekend event, a holiday or later in the afternoon. the doors open at 430 pm EST and they close around 11 i think. reservations if you want to eat here are suggested, and i do suggest them!any of the smiling hostesses will be glad to help.
the menu as others mentioned, does change not very often like every six months i think. it's worth it if you want a salad, entree and dessert to get the big night out,as they have all items for approx. $70-90 per couple, and this is alot of food.. three courses worth! the specialty martinis are awesome and we show Rob and Sergio much love for their prowess with mixology! the wine list is EXTENSIVE so if you arent a wine addict, you can choose one with no fear, or ask for suggestions with no fear! We're Club fondue members as we frequent the place and i can safely say EACH and Every single time we leave this place that i'm NEVER disappointed. i mean , it's cheese fondue, a plate of different meats, bowl of veggies, salads, and your choice of chocolate fondue and various dippers. it's a lot of food for the money. the cooking styles are varied, but please dont just go for deep frying your food, try the citrusy mojo(moho). the waitstaff is knowledgable, sincere, and sometimes may get busy...but they dont ever act annoyed. perhaps those who were tipping 10% deserved it.
i dont hate children, however, i think if you are going to pay this much for food and ambience and you're bringing an unruly child you need to rethink your lifestyle decisions. please do me and yourself a favor and opt for chuckie cheese or something. i abhor spending my relaxing time out in the company of children that break glassware and have their mothers repeat their names.
long and short of it is if you are contemplating coming here, please do!
The food, as one person put it, is good, not great.
The fondue setup is a nice change of pace, and it has a great atmosphere, the high-wall booths are a nice touch.
The one star is only in reference to one gentlemen manning the doors on 12/18/2008.
I've eaten here several times, but tonight I was in shock and awe when this man turned my friend and I away at the door, saying they were booked. Finding it odd to be booked on a thursday night, I called in 10 minutes later and was told room was plentiful and just to arrive before 9:30.
I thought these characters only existed in episodes of Seinfeld, and sex and the city.
I still can't figure out why he did that, all I know is that it wasn't because we drove up in a $45,000 Infiniti Coupe. And it probably had something to do with my friends pink hair, and my right ear being pierced.
Well here it is. Friday night, and we decide to leave the depths of Mandarin and venture out to the Southside and try out The Melting Pot. We made reservations and off we went. When we arrived we were greeted by a few hostesses with a warm welcome. The restaurant had an inviting atmosphere. The hostess proceeded to bring us to our table. We waited for our server. About 10 minutes later he shows up and asks us for our drink order. Our wives ordered wine while the men had beer. After another good 10 min we received our drinks. He then he proceeded to ask what we would like to order for dinner. We had expressed that we had never been to this melting pot and a suggestion would be great, quickly he replied with The Big Night Out. So we said sounds great, let’s do it. And he asked what kind of appetizer we would like. We ordered the appetizer and he quickly scurried away. The women both had wine neither of which was poured from their crafts into their wine glasses. Our beers were left on the table as well, no glasses for us. (A bit tacky for a supposed upscale restaurant and it gets better!) After about another good 10 min our beers sitting on the table getting warm we finally decided to get up and get our own glasses from the bar. Now that we can enjoy our drinks we are not so worried about time. A little while later our waiter comes out and brings the appetizer. Looks excellent and it truly was. It was the spinach and artichoke cheese dip, absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed our food for a while and as we finished our salads were brought out. What appeared to be the manager then came out and personally thanked Erin, who made the reservations and our table for coming out. We thought that was a nice touch and he later returned to ask how the meal was as well. Next to our delight came the main course, we ordered The Feast. It was right on with the rest of the meal, just outstanding flavor! But again, where's our waiter, drinks empty! Not only were our drinks empty, but we never were offered water either. Not that we really needed it at this point, but it would have been nice! We proceeded to eat and finish our meals. Next was the part I had been waiting for! Dessert...mmmm. We ordered the yin and yang. Our desert plates came out and to finish off our meal deliciously. When we received our dessert we were never offered a dessert beverage. After a few bites of dessert, we were in need of water or something to wash it down with. The chocolate was so rich and beer wasn't adding to the experience at all. We waited and waited to no avail, we grabbed another waitress and asked for water from her. Quickly she returned with our request! Wow, we actually had some jiffy service. We thanked her, and off she went. We finished our dessert and the next time we saw our waiter was to deliver our bill. He now quickly returned to pick it up, amazing. Both couples put out their cards and off he went. When he returned he set the 2 cards on the table, and his comment was I don't knows whose card is whose! I think this topped it off for me. We just spent $300 for 4 people and you can't take the time to look at the card and give it to the right person and say thank you. I was extremely bothered by this. And just so everybody understands, I normally tip 20% regardless. This waiter didn't deserve the 10% that we left him. As we were walking out we asked for the manager and told him the food was great and the service was horrible. His response was I am sorry. It just didn't seem very sincere. Needless to say I don't think we will be returning to The Melting Pot very soon. To many restaurants in Mandarin that really appreciate our business!
Our server John H was wonderful. He never let our drinks go empty, the courses of food flowed perfectly, his additude was very helpful and sincere. Our server was exceptional. One of the best servers I ever had. Knowledgeable, personable, efficient, prompt, etc.... We wanted something a little different, intimate, fun and delicious! Being the only TRUE UPSCALE FONDUE Restaurant choice in North Florida, I would highly recommend The Melting Pot to all my friends!
