ROYAL INDIA

Description

Royal India is considered to be the best Indian restaurant in the whole of downtown San Diego. The cuisine served here is mainly North Indian, blending in unique flavors of all the Indian spices to create magic on your plate. The tandoori kebabs, curries like Channa Masala and Makhanwala , nan bread and the seafood, all are simply amazing. Royal India has a wonderful 10 foot waterfall right in the center which perfectly suits the distinctly Indian decor.

“Seems like the real deal for good Indian food” Ate here last night and it was very good - their tandoori stuff come on sizzling platter WOW Thats cool, really cool. Nice selections of curries and - the best tasting Nan I have ever had. Everyone spoke of Royal India for Indian food at my work. Had a chicken garlic kabab which was obviously freshly made. Very nice hostess and waiters - great people. Would recommend this to everyoneone.

Royal India catered wedding at La Costa resort. The appetizers, food and desserts were very delicious and very professional service. Royal India my top choice for Indian food now.

Lunch buffet quality has gone down and the price has been increased in the last year I visited Royal India. My entire family was not happy with the flavor and taste of food. I would not go there again. Service was slow. Only one dessert item in lunch buffet compared to a year ago.

I'm a pretty big fan of indian food. So I've eaten at a number of different places over the years. This place was so-so for food. The decor was good. The gobi aloo was mushy and the naan was a little stale. The tandoori was great. The waitress was a little snotty when I told her the naan tasted stale. That made the review only 3 stars.

If you want authentic, delicious Indian food in San Diego and want great ambiance ..then Royal India is the place to be. The food is amazing! Last time we were here, my husband had the Shrimp Vindaloo, which was good. I had the Chicken Saag and I loved it. I'd also recommend the Chicken Biriani or the Lamb Saag. The Naan Bread that comes with your meal, if you order the full dinner, is also excellent. As for drinks, I I loved Indian Mojito and Mango martini. The best Majito I ever had. The times we've been here the service has been good, very friendly and attentive. We've only been for dinner, but would like to check out their lunch buffet some time.

I did not think I liked Indian food until I visited Royal India. I love it. I eat lunch here 2 or 3 times every week.

I come to San Diego about twice a year and enjoy the gaslamp district greatly. I was especially excited this year about coming to Royal India for dinner with a select group of friends. I made a reservation nearly a week in advance this year to make sure that I could easily get a table for four since I was coming during a large convention. I can't say enough about the low quality of service I received. We were rushed to order, rushed to eat, and then whenever we actually needed someone who was part of the staff, we received no attention. In addition, two members of my party were african american and the attitude of the waiter was disgraceful towards my friends. I am very sorry to say I will never return.

Do not patronize this restaurant. They post hostesses outside the restaurant who welcome non-Black patrons and passersby, while turning their heads when African Americans walk by. I have lived downtown for years and used to pass this place daily and not ONCE have I seen a black person greeted!!! And, yes, I just walked by there on this Memorial Day Weekend and saw that blonde hostess speak to a white woman jogger then turn her racist little head when a black guy passed by, then began greeting again once he had passed and only whites remained!

Nice variety of items on the menu Signature cocktails pair well with the Indian dishes On the recommendation of one of my daughter's teachers, we went to Royal India. I love Indian food and I really enjoyed their Indian food. Yes, they are the Best. I have to tell you that the only reason it is getting five stars is because I never enjoyed another restaurant as this one. The best part , they ask you how spicy you want your food; they give you a three-curry caddy with some crispy peppery cracker-like stuff which probably has a name but I don't know it; the ambiance is more to my taste; they have a wonderful; music played in the baground; the music isn't playing really loud also, feels gud to ears; and the food is best
