I went to Swords and Dreams Reptile Rescue with my mom and three siblings to find an adult male Bearded Dragon. Tom didn’t have one but said to keep checking in. He imparts knowledge of reptiles to anyone who walks in the door if they’re interested enough to listen. He gave me some pointers on how to care for my three current Beardies. I as well shared what I knew of caring for Beardies. For example all three of my Bearded Dragons were in bad shape when I got them. The oldest one (about 10 years old) was underfed. She was a school pet that had been forgotten, she is now fat and enjoying life. My other two dragons (about 8 months)I purchased at a pet store one ,suffering from tail rot, and the other, suffering from figure rot, which are both caused by either getting pinched in something in the environment or a build up of skin that was not shed properly which slowly cuts of blood circulation . I treated them by first soaking the figures and tail in hydrogen peroxide to loosen any unshed skin, and then put Neosporin on them to prevent infection. The one with tail rot did lose the tip of his tail and the one with fingerer rot lost his fingers, but, otherwise are normal Beardies.
