Met my wife there after she had a long day at work and sat at the bar. Ordered a few rolls, and she was most impressed by the Dynamite roll because it was not too hot, just spicy, and went really well with the Japanese beer. The Tuna Tataki appetizer was by far my favorite because it was as fresh as can be. With all the night clubs around, this is the perfect place to go around 9pm to have great sushi before strolling. For us, it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy some of the best sushi I have had in the city. We will definitely meet here friends!
I have heard bad things about this place but the sushi always seemed to be good when I went however there has been a shift in the vibe recently. There has also been the same servers every time I go but for whatever reason I came in today and I recognized one employee pierce, but he didn't end up serving us. Instead Kristin served me. She didn't keep my drinks filled and when I left she was classlessly smoking outside. I just thought it was bad service compared to what I am use to and for the 150 dollar bill we racked up. It also smells like mold and half the roof is falling in around the back. I am starting to look for another sushi spot to go! I didn't want to believe all the reviews about service and cleanliness but after my last visit I do now!!!!
The restaurant was full so me and my bf decided to sit at the bar. We saw the bar tender take several drinks before he came to ask and took our order--he was obviously more interested in catering to his friends than me. We ordered a miso and waited. When I got it it was cool but Our drinks came out shortly after. I waited as I went to receive my meal I went to the restroom. As I am a repeat customer I knew my rollss and I saw them at the sushi bar....I waited at additional 15 minutes as the bar tender flirted and and drank.I saw the bar tender fight with the employees twice. I eventually received my rolls but at that point the wait was not worth it. Do not go if you want good service. All the employees I trusted have been replaced by wanna be's. Ask for Rachel, Pierce, or Cory. The others do not have sushi knowledge.
My fiance and I stopped in for lunch during a long day of shopping. We sat at the sushi bar and the food was okay, nothing to write home about. While we were waiting on our bill a cockroach crawled out from under the refrigerated case where they keep all the prepped food. An employee tried unsuccessfully to squash the bug with her fingers while I tried not to gag. I excused myself and went to the restroom only to find out that my fiance had killed the creature in my absence. I wanted to vomit.
Having to deal with the cockroach was bad enough but the lack of customer service is what really disgusts me. I expected to see a manager or at least get an apology from the waitstaff. Instead the waitress offered us free dessert. No, thank you. I do not want any more food from your roach-infested kitchen.
Needless to say, I will not be returning to Sushi on the Rocks.
