My wife, daughter and I had carryout from Sahib's tonight. The food was delicious. I am a novice when it comes to Indian cuisine. The owner was very friendly and made suggestions about what to order. I'm glad we took his advice. So if you are new to Indian food, don't be bashful; tell him what you like to eat and let him guide you in the right direction. We had the Murg Narm-Garam, Makhani Daal, Vegetable Samosa and Aloo Tikki appetizers, and the Vegetable Partha and Paneer Kulcha breads. It was more food than the three of us could eat. Go in with an open mind, ask questions (you'll get answers) and you will get a great meal.

5.0 out of 5.0 A fantastic taste experience! 2010-10-10 let me say emphatically!!! TRY IT ! Your taste buds will thank you and your mind will be overjoyed with the subtle complimentary flavors of this Indian menu. Indian food is about tastes and freshness. The dishes are mild for people who think they would be hot and spicy, although you may order spicy hot if that is your taste. The atmosphere is casual with a bit of a formal air. The wait staff and management will explain any dishes for you and the service is a pleasant surprise! Prices are VERY reasonable with no single menu item over over $14.95. The lunch buffet is fantastic and 2 can dine in the $20.00 range depending on drinks. There is also a full bar and lounge area. So when in Johnson city do yourself a FLAVOR and experience Sahib!

Good food, bad location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/3/10
Sahib offers good Indian food and reasonable prices. The staff is so helpful in explaining the dishes, and goes out of their way to ensure that you enjoy your meal. The entrees are all very good, and the menu is extensive. I wish their location were a little better, as some shady characters seem to frequent the motels that are on either side of the restaurant

This is one of my most favorite places to eat. We have to drive about 80 miles to get there but it definately worth it. I have never received slow service here though. Any dish with paneer is my favorite. They also have an excellent lunch buffet that is very inexpensive and I would recommend it to anyone who would like to try Indian food for the first time.

Five stars, no doubt. This place will knock you off your feet. I've been going for a couple of years now, and their Kaju Paneer is so good, I have to force myself to order something else, and rarely succeed. One of the most awesome things there is the thall. Three veggies (or two meats), raita, rice, and a desert of gulab jamun for only thirteen bucks! Oh, and you get some of their insanely good soup with it too. The peshwari naan is something I could eat every single day for the rest of my life! You must try it, as it's better than just about any Indian restaurant I've ever been to! Even the nearby-and-hip Asheville NC has nothing to compare!

very good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/09
this was one of 2 Indian restaurants in Johnson City. Now they are the only one. They are good, but not as good as the other. But you will have quality, well prepared meal here and the staff is always great.

This is clearly the best Indian restaurant in the area. Excellent food, friendly service (could be a little faster), but just a great experience. The lunch buffet is a bargain, and great if you want to try a bunch of things at a low price.
