Cucina Bene, located in Sherman Oaks, exudes an intimate venue for a quaint dinner. The restaurant interiors are simple with the use of warm tones and the vibe of a fine dine eatery. The patio area, on the other hand, is a spacious venue for private hire. The menu has a lot of delicious Italian options like antipasti, pasta, pizza and more. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. You can request them to make some small changes in any dish and they will try their best to get that done for you. Pair your meal with an authentic Italian or Californian wine. Get seated on the patio if it is not hired out.
PIZZA was real good....pastrami sandwich has enough pastrami for 6 sandwiches (I actually just ate its residue on the bread, but thats more my issue than yours) Potato salad is good, could use some black pepper...Had some little pastries that were good too...Highlight of my visit, looking in the bakery case and seeing apple strudels just like my mother used to make when she still liked to cook, and realizing that they did SOMETHING culturally jewish with me.
From the personalized service to the unique plates to the little things like fresh flowers garnishing each meal, Cucina Bene is certainly a place to be explored. With the current freeway construction and occassional detours, you might not even notice that it's there. But take the time to find it, park in back (with plenty of free parking) and enjoy your dining experience.
At lunch, you get fresh hot garlic knots (be careful bringing a first date here!), fresh brushetta (date warning, again), and delicious green olives. Almost all of their food is made on the premises and they are very easy to make accomidations for special dietary restrictions. The dessert menu is incredible and includes their homemade tiramisu.
For large parties, they have a great set up where tables are put in a square formation, which really helps to promote dining conversation, instead of the normal long-line-of-tables.
Finally, there is an enclosed, heated patio but I haven't sat in it yet. Though it looks nice and cozy. Also, evenings present entertainment by the piano sitting in the corner of the dining room.
Check it out and enjoy!
I definitely love this place!! The food is fresh, tasty and the portions are abundant but no huge. The desserts are amazing and the staff is friendly. They have a covered patio which is ideal for parties. I highly recommend this place.
Excellent! We went for lunch to see what the restaurant that replaced Vito's from Sicily was like. Vito's was great. Cucina Bene is incredible. The wait staff is wonderful. The food is fabulous. The ambiance is not too much. Casual but date worthy (lots of garlic however). I love Barry. I still miss Vito though.
People who visit this place just become repeat customers. I have yet to have anything less than a great meal here. The sauces make the food incredible. The marsala sauce is to die for, the pomegranate sauce on the salmon is amazing, and the kiwi orange sauce on the chicken is also phenomenal. T
he wait staff is also the bend over backwards type and the owners always come say hello when I visit. If you want great italian food, this is a place you need to try.
However, I do wish that they would bring back some of their homemade desserts that have not been available recently.
