Tanner Jacks, Arroyo Grande

I didn't try every smokehouse in the area, but I can pretty much bet this is the best one around. We went on a saturday night. Was full, but not crowded. I had called about 10 minutes early to see what the wait time was. From that, the hostess set up a station for us that was ready when we arrived without me even asking. Waiter and hostess were both exceptional - our waiter even told us a large party had just arrived, and suggested we get our order in ahead of them to avoid a delay! Drinks always filled. Food - beyond compare. I know bbq, I mean I REALLY know bbq, and this was amazing. The pitmaster knows what he's doing! We ordered a selection of items - tri tip, pork loin ribs, chicken. All moist, all tender, all flavorful. Absolutely made our trip. The rolls alone were worth the visit!!! We will be back every time we're in town, and may make the trip just to go here! Skip AJ Spurs and McClintocks - this is the place to go!

I have lived in this area for 5 years and just found out about this gem of a restaurant. Each person in our party tried something different and we all loved our food. The spinach salad is the best I have ever tasted. The service was good and it had a warm atmosphere. I am anxious to go there again.

I am a huge fan of Tanner Jacks!!! The staff there makes you feel like family and are always happily greeting me. Everytime I eat there, I always leave in amazement, it is so good. And they started an email where I get weekly coupons and updates for the restaurant and for Palo Mesa Pizza, their other restaurant. I am anxious to win the drawing for a free dinner for two. In these tough economic times, it is nice to see a place not raise their prices and still keep up the great quality of food. I would totally recommend this place to everyone!!!

RUDEST STAFF I'VE EVER COME ACROSS... STAFF WAS HORRIBLE..DIRTY LOOKED MY HUSBAND AND THE WHOLE TIME... TOOK 15 MINS TO EVEN GET OUR DRINK ORDERS IN.. FOOD WAS DISGUSTING... COLD AND TASTED LIKE IT WAS ROASTED IN CHEMICALS. RUDE RUDE STAFF. OVERPRICED FOR HORRIBLE FOOD AND I WILL NEVER EVER GO HERE AGAIN!!!

Try the tri-tip sandwich - you might need extra sauce, but it is so good - only $10.00 (cost not an issue, it's just dang good!)

I tried TJ's last night with my family. We thought the food was very good. We tried the tri-tip and chicken. Our little one had the mac n cheese. Salads were done differently, an iceberg head cut in half. Rolls were very good with great dipping sauces. Sodas were flat. Menu had many great choices to try. Bill was $55 for dinner for 2+1 and that included tip. Atmosphere was ok. Background music was a little loud for me. The seating was rustic, wood benches. There was some noise from the bar. It wasn't busy. If the place had been busier it could get a little too loud would be my guess. Service was good. We would go back.

Hands-down, the best tri-tip I've ever had. Service was VERY fast. This is one of my new favorites, will definitely be going back.

Great food! We have tried tri-tip, pork chops, pasta, chili, chicken, you name it. It is always fantastic. Great sides, appetizers, and service!!!!!

We arrived at 10 til 2, brunch was all but done, but they served us anyway. The staff was friendly and the food was great! There were just a few pieces of tri-tip left when we got there and it was out of this world. belgium waffles with all the toppings, omelets with anything in em'. I will definately go again-but next time I will go earlier to get in on all the goodies!!
