Keller Golf Course

Description

The Keller Golf Course has a long and prestigious history of being rated as a top public course. Year after year Golf Digest magazine lists this classic style championship quality golf course as a must play when visiting Minnesota. Built in 1929, the course has rolling tree lined fairways and small, round greens. Numerous sand traps protect most greens and water comes into play on five holes. The championship tee boxes will challenge the experienced golfer while the shorter tees allow the novice to work on their game. Call for more information.

Best Course in Either City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/11
There are a few very good new courses in the suburbs, but if you want to play a classic parkland golf course, in town, this is the best in MSP. Course has great history and nostalgia: it hosted the PGA's St. Paul Open, 2 PGA Championships, a Western Open (when that meant something), plus the LPGA. The walls are covered with photos of past champions. But the course: it's built on some interesting rolling terrain that gives it visual appeal...a lot of private courses would love to have that land. It can be fragile, condition-wise...a lot depends on weather. But when it's good, it's very good. The superintendent doesn't over-water, and likes to keep the greens firm. Much more fun that way, and good players really like it because it rewards good shot-making. Overall, you can't find a better golf course. You may find its equal, but you'll pay more and you'll drive farther.

Great Classsic Golf Course
By SHEILA, 2/23/08
Great Golf Curse, and for less then $35. Very affordalble, great place for the family to do a little golfing The back nine is extremelly unique and very fun. It hosted the PGA Championship twice, lots of memorabelia of this in the clubhouse. Wonderfully conditioned, superintedent and crew have done a great job. Highly recommended, hope you enjoy Keller Golf Club. (The best holes are the 4th, 12th, and 13th)

Best Public Course In MSP
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/07
This golf course rocks when it's in good shape...and right now (summer 2007) it's in great shape. The superintendant doesn't like soft, shaggy greens, and when he gets good weather he keeps them in near-country club condition...firm and fast. The layout is wonderful from start to finish, and nostalgia drips off the clubhouse walls. The bunkers could use a reconditioning, but otherwise it's a perfect golf course, and right in the city.

Great Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/26/06
A former host to two PGA championships, Keller golf course is a slice of history. However, since the first of those PGA's was in the 1920s, it is a little short for today's golf ball The tips play to about 6,500 yards, so it isn't TOO bad and for around $30, you can't do better in MSP. Keller also was the home of the St Paul Open and LPGA event called the Patty Berg open. Step into the restuarant to see a galler of winners' photos including a very young Raymond Floyd as well as Sam Snead, Johnny Revolta and others.

Great Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/05
Early in the year the course can be in tough shape. But when it is playing good it is hard to beat. It is impossible to beat the value when it is in good shape. Nice layout, nostalgia, and atmosphere. Respectable design that will challange every club in your bag.
