Cameron Run Regional Park
Cameron Run Regional Park is located across the river from Washington in Alexandria . The main attraction is the fantastic water park with a wavepool, 3-flume waterslide, water playground, lap lanes and raft rental. There is also a bathhouse and snack bar. The water park is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Other park features include a deluxe miniature golf course, batting cage, picnic shelter (available for rental), and a fishing pond. The batting cage and miniature golf course are open mid-March through October.
This place was great when it first opened, but like anything, unless it is kept up, it getr run down. This park has been open over 25 years now and it shows. The entire area around the poool , and the "locker rooms need to be razed and redone. A classic example of something once nice now downtrodden.
we had a blast at cameron run on 6/12/09. The weather was great, the waves was great, the price of the food was unbeatble. I dont know about any other day, but this particular day was awesome, and we c'ant wait to go back.
Cameron Run's water park is a fun and convenient location for children in the DC area. The park is busy, but the attendants work hard to keep it clean during peak season. The batting cages are fun for kids and adults. The Park Authority should invest in upgrading the pitching machines, but they are fun nonetheless.
We took our 3 year old to the park after reading the great reviews here. Oh my god! The park is disgusting, very dirty, and unsafe. The attendants at the park water slides were barely older than my daughter and didn't pay attention. Older kids were throwing ice cream dots in the wave pool - we complained and they did nothing. The toddler water area had food and trash in it. After only 15 minutes my daughter begged us to go home and play on the slide in the back yard.
Please don't waste your money. This is the prime example of a public park too close to the city. Instead of a good experience - our daughter is now traumatized and doesn't want to go to any park.
I like the BIG waves, And the quick response of the staff(life gaurds)
I lost all the fun when it comes to the slides, it is very slow and bouring to get on, you have to wait until the person get off before you can go, That make the lines so long. That part was not much fun.
I loved the water slides!!!!!!!!!!
But the green floor gets really, really hot and burns your feet, that was really annoying. I's a great place for someone who loves the pooland the beach.
When my family travel to Virgfinia the first place my kids scream for is Cameron Run.So one year we decided to go for thet third time. When we got there it was a total mess. I thought that a rats cage had been set free it was so disgusting. Chicken Fingers and Dipn Dot ice cream all over the place. People were out of control.I just couldnt take it anymore so i contacted the Better Business Burea( BBB) and guess what they said " oh it was a bus day , you should come back on a not so busy day but we will give you a coupon to go back." I did not want no stupid coupon to take me back to the smae dirty place. How could they????
Dont take your family there!
Im warning you.
Although the slides are short the waves don't last as long as we would want them to this is an all around good place to be at when your with the kids. this experiance i fun once in a while but you should not go them to much.
