Meet dolphins up close and enjoy an experience of a lifetime with this company that takes you on an hour long boat tour of Corpus Christi Bay where you can visit, and play games with dolphins. This is the only place in Corpus Christi where you can interact with free dolphins.
These people really love what they do, and it really shows! This was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see dolphins up close. I was amazed at our guide's knowledge of dolphins, and how many of them he's even named! I highly recommend going on a trip with the Dolphin Connection.
Thank you so much!!!
I called and left a message months in advance to plan my birthday adventure. Sonja promptly returned my call and kept in touch with me right up until I arrived for my trip. I have not experienced such warm and wonderful people as Sonja and Irving. We searched out and found so many adorable dolphins doing what dolphins do best...just be themselves in their natural habitat! We witnessed them playing, eating, mating, and they even came up to our boat. I was able to capture some amazing photos and video.
Dolphin Connection is everything it advertises itself to be and more. They truly made my birthday something unforgettable. You won't regret taking this trip...I plan on coming back again next year...and the year after...
What a BLAST!! As a birthday gift from my Husband, he surprised me with this boat ride to see the dolphins! Our scheduled tour was at 2:00PM, and the guide arrived back from his current trip at EXACTLY 2:00PM. A couple of minutes later.. We were on our way! As we were boarding, the guide informed us that the Dolphins were having a bad day and that we might not get to interact with them, but if we didnt.. The Trip was free! We were on the water for 1.5 hours, and although none of the dolphins came directly up to the boat.(several came SUPER close though) .. It was AMAZING! The guides knowledge and passion for these beautiful mammals is heart warming. You will read in another review how he trashes the aqariums, he didnt to us, but if he did to others its only because he loves these dolphins immensley, and clearly they dont live the life they should in captivity!! According to our giude, dolphins in captivity live around 8 years, however in their natural habitat they can live in to their 50's! Also, while on the trip the tour guide/owner told us that he hasnt been able to do tours for a couple of months because he was extremely ill. So the most recent reviews talking about how they were not able to get a hold of anyone, thats why! I asked my husband after reading the most recent reviews if he had any trouble getting a hold of them and his response was.. Not at ALL! Anyway, back to the experience. As I said before, although I didnt get to "touch" a dolphin, being out in the ocean and seeing them within 5 feet of the boat doing their natural thing, was beautiful! I would recommend The Dolphin Connection to EVERYONE! On a side note, at the end of the tour.. The guide told us that our tour was free because we didnt get to "interact" with the dolphins, but said if you would like to give a donation to help with gas, it would be appreciated. We were HAPPY to pay! Nobody tried to sell us T-shirts, and we got a FREE DVD. Again... AMAZING!!
It took about 2 weeks of calling to finally reach someone to book our trip, they wouldn't return phone calls. The morning of our trip, they called us to inform us that they were moving the trip up 1.5 hours, luckily we were already in town and did not have to travel far. We were told to arrive 15-30 min before our trip, so we did. The boat did not showed up 1 hour after we were told to be there. When we finally got on the boat and were out at sea, the guide informed us that the boat had been acting up and they hoped we didn't get stuck out there. We did get to see about 20 dolphins up close, though they did not come right up to the boat they we were told.
Overall, good to see the dolphins up close, but very unprofessional. If you are a larger group, might be cheaper to rent your own boat.
I called from my home a month in advance to try and make reservations and left a contact number on the answering service. We were never contacted and never could get thru to a live person when I tried calling other times. Now we're here and have been told (again by a machine) that there are no spots available until 2 weeks from now. Thanks for spoiling my daughter's senior trip.
I was thinking that this would be a boring cheap trip but could not find anything else so decided to try it. I have found the ABSOLUTE best dolphin adventure there is. I have been to the one's in Cancun and thought they were fun until i met these people. It is a STEAL at the price they charge and the knowledge that the man has about dolphins is superior to anyone . He has personally named hundreds of dolphins out in the WILD. Not in captivity, like the others, but in the ocean. They love this man and come to his boat like a herd of cows being fed. My 10 year old daughter was touching wild dolphins while the boat was moving and i have pics and video of it. I will go back anytime i possibly can, as this is the best experience i have EVER found while on Vacation. If anyone does not like this , THEY HAVE PROBLEMS. Thank you Dolphin Connection for making a great vacation spot available for my family in Texas.
We drove a couple hours from our location to take part in this experience. We arrived early just because we had miscalculated our time to travel and ended up having some fun in Corpus Christi before our allotted time. We never received a phone call that the weather was too bad to go out- so we were excited to go see some dolphins. About 15 mins prior to our tour time, the man from the company called us and asked if we could go out earlier. Thrilled, we said we were early, so we could be there in 5 mins. When we arrived, the guide arrived 10 mins later and said that it was a "no go" because he could not even bring the boat around. The skies were overcast, but the wind was not more than 10 mph- which indicated to me that the boat we would be taking out was tiny. We were of course disappointed and told this man that we were. He said earlier in the morning, the waves were much calmer and he wished we had called him because we could have gone out earlier. We said, we really wished he had called us, because we happened to arrive earlier that morning due to miscalculating the traffic etc. We got in our car and were ready to leave, when he popped out of his car and knocked on my window. When I rolled the window down, he said in an aggressive voice "Don't you ever call me again." He then stormed back to his car. I would never recommend making reservations with a company whose main guide was rude, unprofessional, and aggressive. His behavior was completely out of line and inexcusable. He also had called us 15 mins prior to our time and indicated that our excursion was ready to go, then could not get his boat around due to the "winds." My question is what vessel does he use to take people out when the winds were not that strong and the boat that is advertised on the website had never moved from the dock. This is false advertising. He has a very disrespectful attitude toward his clients. We were able to find another dolphin experience that same day that was ten times better than anything this one could be. No wonder this company only charges $25 per person. Beware.
In a nut shell, this was the highlight of our vacation!!! We saw loads of dolphins and tour guide knew every one of them by name. They came up close to the boat and our children were able to interact with them in a very intimate way. It was everything could have hoped for.
We will most definatly come back in the future!
I give Dolphin Connection my highest recommendation.
The water was real choppy, we did see a few dolphins and some babies too. The guide was very informative about dolphin life. We went out with him and his wife, she made the trip worthwhile..she would get so excited everytime a dolphin would come near, you would not have known she had been doing this for over 20 years. It would have been nice if some of the dolphins would have come up closer to the boat, they seem to have their own thing going on. Just seeing them in the water and free, made the trip...I wish the trip could have been longer, love the ride around in the gulf. Would for sure do it again.
