I am kind of big and had gone to the riding stables when it was owned previously as mustang ranch and they were really cool about it gave a nice stout horse and I had a great time. I went back on vacation recently and they were really creul they said that they only had lite riding horses at that time and didnt know if they would hold my weight!! I almost cried. and they wanted to drain your wallet.
This is under new ownership and VERY much 'user friendly' now !! I took my teenage daughter and her friend for a sunset ride and it was very nice. The staff is knowedgeable and friendly. We had a great ride.
Went there during 05 Spring Break and had a good time. I was told that most of the people working there are A&M students. Most of the horses are large (draught crosses), and they asked us to assemble 2 lines - inexperienced and 10+ rides, which most places don't do. We were allowed to trot as much as we liked, and the guides were friendly (could've been more assertive). We could spread out, ride with friends, and wade in the water a little, freedom you won't find on a trail ride. It's a shame this place isn't there any more! I tried to go back a year or two later and was told the owner moved.
I am from Michigan and my friend and I are going to Texas for Spring Break. I have never been to the state and I love horseback riding but after reading these reviews I would NEVER go to a place like this...maybe with the law-enforcement but that's it. They sound so un-professional and that they don't are for their animals what so ever. I love animals and that really breaks my heart. SO sad...
I took my daughter riding at Mustang Stables over the weekend - I will NEVER go back! They put her (only 7 years old) on an old, tired, downtrodden horse and they put me on a young fiesty horse so she was the very last rider (no guide riding in the back) and my horse wanted to be all the way in the front - I had to fight my horse the entire hour just to stay where I could see her, a relaxing ride with my daughter was out of the question. Also, most of the horses had severely matted manes and tails - I doubt they had ever been brushed. This place is the most expensive stables I had ever been to ($40 an hour per horse!) and also the grossest - we had to stand in mud and the guy who put us on our horses looked like an ex-con. When I spoke to the owner after our ride, she was very rude and walked off - she had no interest in hearing what I had to say, she said the horses were dirty because it had rained but it takes months without brushing to get hair that matted! I love horseback riding on the beach, but this place is very unprofessional (and overpriced - $40 an hour PER HORSE, the most I've ever paid to ride), I will definitely go somewhere else next time.
The ride along the beach on the horses was the best time i have had in along time. And for a first time rider, my son, had a wonderful experience as well, something he will always remember. I can't wait to do it again!
The horse I got was small, and didn't like the horse my husband was riding. They kept kicking at each other. We weren't at the same level because his horse was big. It could have been better. Hopefully next time will be better.
Riding with Mustang Riding Stables was a great experience. The ride on the beach (and in the water) was wonderful and reasonably priced. The guides were polite and helpful, and the horses were well maintained. The first time was so enjoyable that I went a second time during my vacation at Corpus Christi. I have been to several other riding stables throughout other states and on my list, this one ranks with the top!
Fleas, Ticks, Scrawny wild mean horses that are not taken care of right. Horses on a beach. Those people lack the experence needed to take care of and maintain such an attraction and everybody thats native to this area knows them people that own and maitain them stables is too poor to operate a decent attraction let alone the know how about horses to do it. Pleeeeease gimmie a break.
