Abraham Quintanilla built this museum to honor the memory of his daughter, Selena, the world famous singer who was killed in the prime of her life. The museum displays outfits and dresses designed and worn by Selena at concerts and award shows, as well as her red Porsche and other personal memorabilia.
We were there for vacation and we were thinking to visit Selena Museum, so I got all information in the Internet and when we were there we could not fin the place, even with GPS.
Next day during day we came back and it was closed, according the information we got this place is close the weekends. We were very disappointed. And is true the houses around there look like warehouse and there is not signs.
My daughter and I both love Selena so when she turned 16 my husband and I brought her to Texas with us on our yearly trip to Rockport Texas. My daughter and I made a trip into Corpus and found the Selena Museum and also her store. We could have stayed in the museum all day. We could also see and hear her wearing all those outfits and performing in them. But more than that we felt close to her and that was a very loving moment for the both of us.
Thank you so much for sharing a part of heth us. God Bless you.
Very true about needing a sign out in front of the building. So easy to pass by not knowing what it is- and we did so 3 times even though our GPS told us where it was! Suggestion, watch the "Selena" move first, then go to the museum, her shop out in town then Seaside Memorial where she was buried for an all day Selena-athon. She was a a great young lady and the family is wonderful.
I loved the museum!!! Just to see all her outfits from known concerts she performed at and all her awards was amazing. The staff there are truly very nice people. They took the time to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Mr. Quintanilla is also a very nice individual and really showed us how welcomed we were. He took the time to talk to us and showed us around. We want to thank him for being kind to us and making our trip very memorable!!!! We would definitely recommend everyone to see this place. They are closed on the weekends so plan to visit during the week.
All true Selena fans will totally appreciate this museum. Not only do you get to see the studio where Selena recorded, but just to be in the presence of all her awards, iconic outfits, and her parents...... was unforgettable. I was speechless when I walked in and saw her father, Mr. Quintanilla. I was shaking when he took my friend and I upstairs to see some live footage of Selena for over an hour! To top it off, her mother walked in !!!
Selena was my role model as a child and I am so so grateful I took this trip.
This experience will remain with me for the rest of my life.
I went to the museum in 2006. First of all, if there had not been a tour bus there, I would have never known it existed. It is O.K., and worth a trip if you are in the area (i was there for business), but not worth making a treck accross the state or country to go see. I love Selena, so of course the visit was worth it to me,but the museum is not enough to keep you busy for too long, and OMG...the building needs a huge facelift...and a SIGN.
My family and I went to the Selena museum, it was great, the place itself isnt all that great but I thought the museum made up for everything. Mr Quintanilla was so friendly he had a conversation with my husband and I. I enjoyed it a lot.
I just came back from the Museum yesterday (4~14~08), and it was perfect, everyone was soo friendly and welcome. We were actually done in the museum and asked her dad if he could have someone open the gift shop and he asked if we were in a hurry, we replied "no" he asked "Would you like to view a video of Selena in concert never before seen?" He took us and another group to a back area for employees only, to watch it on a big screen. Abraham was sitting in there with us watching his daughter on stage. When it was over we sat and talked with him for about 45 minutes. Then he went out of his way and came out to the front to take pictures with us. And sign the items we bought in the gift shop! I will always remember this day and the generosity Abraham showed us!!
I went there in december 2007 it was they best trip I have ever taken, I love selena so much!!!!! I found the place cause the lady at the selena boutique told me how to get there, as i walked in and saw everything i felt so happy but yet so sad cause i would rather see her in those outfits again, Mr Quintanilla thank you so much for opening this museum it was really the best place in corpus christi, I feel so proud when I see this as a tourist attraction on the tour guide. i travel alot of places around the world to see great history attractions but this was one of the best ones I ever saw, i reccommend you go, you have no Idea what you wil be missing, I hope this place stays open 4ever. Long live the QUEEN!!!!!!
We had gone to visit family in Houston all the way from Denver and decided since we where near we would drive to Corpus and see her museum, I was very excited. It was a Sunday and was closed. It was very hard to find because there are no signs nothing it looks like a warehouse!! I was very hurt and upset I was not able to see it.
