You've got to be kidding me? I find it hard to believe so many people rate this place so high. Since this was my first time, and I love so many meats, I had to get a combo. Maybe that was the mistake. I ordered a tri tip and Louisiana spare rib combo ($24.95) with the vegetable medley and bake beans as sides, a glass of their house Cabernet. When the platter came I about winced at how ridicously little meat was on this platter. But with the bread (average), and the sides, there was plenty of food to fill up. the Tri tip was only a few small thinly cut slices. I am just not crazy about thin slices of tri tip, tri-tip should be cut thick. On top of that is was rather dry. The ribs were not spare ribs they were baby back ribs and they screwed that up. I should have sent it back but I hate doing that unless the food is inedible. The ribs I ordered dry because I had tasted their sauces on the table and they were way way too SWEET or pungent (vinegary). Nevertheless the ribs were cooked dry, and they were rather meatless really. I've had friends do better slow smoked bbg on their Qs back home.
My girlfriend had the fried chicken and mashed potatoes with vegetable medley. She did not think highly of any it. The mashed potatoes were in a big unsightly pile (fine if you are a food trough-ie). The chicken was pounded breasts and bland. She didn' t like the vegie medly because one of the ingredients - the carrots, were mush. All in all, at about $30 per person, this is another place I can afford not to bother with again, and it always amazes me how such mediocrity can be so highly rated by so many people.
