We ate here many times and had nothing but wonderful experiences. Even spent New Year's here, which was fun (and nice views of the valley).
We went there this past Friday in hopes of having some drinks in the lounge, come to find it completely closed up! Outdoor furniture gone, propane heaters all inside. Reading the most recent reviews, perhaps management or something had changed hands - who knows.
It was a great place with a nice atmosphere and view - we are sad to see it gone.
The price is outrageous for the lousy service and crappy steak. Yes, crappy steak at a steak house. If you like wasting half of your steak ($35-$49 steak) as it's to tough to cut and actually chew then this is the place. The staff needs to go to classes on how it is to wait on people with a friendly attitude. We will not be wasting our $125 for a meal on this place ever again.
As a last minute decision on a late Friday night, we decided to try The Steak for dinner. As it was after 9:00 at night, we were seated immediately, and attended to very promptly by our Waiter, Aaron. We started with appetizers, which were excellent, and moved to the main course, which consisted of the rib eye for myself, and rack of lamb and a lobster tail for my better half. My steak, all 24 ounces of it, was cooked to perfection, and tasted incredible. The small taste of the rack of lamb and the lobster tail I was fortunate enough to get a sample of, was exquisite, and also cooked to perfection. The atmosphere and view were totally unexpected, considering the restuarant sits on the end of a strip mall. We had the pleasure of meeting the Manager, Rob, who treated us as though we were long time friends. We really can't say enough about the food, or the service, and we will definetly be back.
What I had planned to be a nice evening out with the wife turned into a disaster. The restauarant is just accross the freeway from us and was told it was pricey but worth it. I don't mind pricey at all if it's worth it. I was a little shocked at how pricey considering the atmosphere and location,however,I still wanted a good steak. My wife wanted prime rib but it was 49.00 dollars she said no way,so she ordered the salmon (it was grrreat). I ordered the filet mignon $35.00 cooked medium with steamed veggies and sauteed mushrooms. The steak was terrible , burnt on the outside and rare in the middle ( I guess that averages out to medium ),anyway , when you order steamed veggies in a steakhouse you should get cauliflower,broccoli,zucchini etc... nope not her try green beans and carrots woohoo. even the mushrooms sucked. We didn't order any wine so the waitress had an attitude from that point on. I chewed on that piece of meat til the flavor was gone then politely spit it out into a napkin. I took the rest home because I couldn't eat it , and , I wanted to show my friends what lousy food it was. The dinner rolls were even terrible if I'd ordered a salad that was another $10, and for $35 a salad should have been included. We will never eat there again and we tell everyone we know not even bother going there.
I took my mom and dad for a special lunch at STEAK and they can't stop talking about it. The view was gorgeous and I love the interior decor.
The waiter was attentive without demanding our attention and interrupting the conversation. Didn't have to ask for refills (my pet peeve).
I am a new resident to LV and definitely enjoy my food and wine experiences. I have to note that my wife and I stopped at a place called Steak on Horizon Ridge thinking it was a butcher store....walking into a wine store and restaurant we were taken back by the selection of hard to get wines and then we could purchase an for a small charge could drink in the restaurant (we noted restaurant markups from 3-5 times LV restaurants). We ordered bone-in Ribeye and it was great but the service was much better that expected. If this is how the local restauranteurs treat people this is where we will go.
I want with a group of my friends to Steak on Horizon on Friday.
I herd good things of the place from several people at this point, so I have decided try it out.
I have to say that normally when I hear good things about a place I usually end up disappointed. But not this time.
The décor is beautiful. The view of the city is great. The food was excellent, we all ordered a steak, I had a desert that I never had before, a sort of a crape filled with home made cheese I believe, it was amazing. The prices are good. The service was great. We ended up at the bar after the meal for a drink, we ended up spending our whole evening there.
Its about time our neighborhood will have a place for young professional to hang out.
