Duke's Chowder House - Ruston Way
Try their 100% all natural clam chowder. They also serve wild Alaska seafood, all natural chicken, steaks & burgers, wild Gulf Prawns, and wild Dungeness Crab. All of their dressings and sauces are homemade. Duke's offers a casual, comfortable place to eat.
Imagine Skippers Restaurant with a bar. I'm not sure how you overcook fish and chips on the outside and under cook it on the inside but Duke's figured it out. The caesar salad was romaine chunks with a few croutons and horrid dressing that would make a Safeway brand blush. The CUP of average, sandy, gritty chowder cost $7.00. Tacoma boasts many great restaurants, don't waste your time at Duke's.
This restaurant is my favorite on the water on Ruston Way. The food was excellent, service very friendly, and price was awesome as we had a buy one, get one dinner coupon. Normally for the portion size of the seafood meal, the price is still good. I recommend the Mahi tacos or Halibut & chips.
It was a fairly nice place but WWAAYY overpriced. The food was good but portions of fish were not adequate for the price. And everything is alacart. Add a cup of chowder, it's seven bucks. They also need to do something about the bugs. It is a nice open, waterfront location but the bugs bothered us during the whole meal. You can definitely find a better value.
I love Duke's! Best seafood place in the Tacoma area. Kind of pricey but worth it. Oh and by the way... order seafood there! LOL @ the guy who had a cheeseburger... You could go to Red Robin for that! Get the bourbon dungeness crab chowder... it's to DIE for. Their salads are also very good!
There have been Dukes in Seattle area that I have visited and loved and have closed now sad to say. I think the owners of Dukes expanded way to much. But the Dukes on Ruston way is worth the trip! Lots of seating, the view is great. The food is fantasic! I have the cheesburger with fries which is great! They do have outdoor seating which is best during the summer on a nice day.
