The Gelato Company is an amazing place, I eat there at least once a week. They have delicious sandwiches and always have new flavors of gelato (which is NOT ice cream, and should not have random things mixed in with it!) The best part is you can get an entree, drink and gelato for under $10 :)
I love the place and have taken people that don't even like sweets here and they rave about it.
The flavors are always creative and changing and that's what I like about the place! (chocolate and merlot? Yes!) I can get plain vanilla in grocery store.
As for the other reviewer, I'm offended... why would you put mixers in a perfectly good gelato? The point is that it's not ColdStone. You sound like you didnt even go bc you said it looks like there were lots of flavors... but you don't know?
The size is porportionate. It's a little healthier than ice cream but you shouldn't be eating a pint of either of them. I've eaten at a lot of gelato places across the US (I'm not privleged enough to go to Italy as of yet) since they've been cropping up and are considered trendy here. The size is the same as all the others. It's a standard neon cup and standard neon gelato spoon like they all get it from the same company.
The staff has always been patient to myself and other customers in my 10+ visits. They're used to people wanting to try everything, not knowing what gelato is and having lots of questions, so I doubt any of your requests would peturb them.
Ever seen Curb Your Enthusiasm? Does not apply here. Everyone wants to try beer flavored gelato! They also sell sandwiches, beer, cake, salads and pizza. There's usually a line which attests to how delicious it all is. It's a standard for college kids to bring their parents when they visit.
Not as good as cold stone!
I had heard lots of good things about this place. I love gelato, I ate it all the time in venice, so I know gelato tastes like. I'd recommend coldstone instead. This place looks like it has lots of flavors, but some of them are weird, like the jelly beans in harry potter. The real problem is that they don't let you add mix ins'! Come on, this is the 20th century. How hard is it to mix candy into my ice cream. Maybe the employees aren't as smart as the employees at coldstone. I know they don't even sing those fun songs or welcome you when ever you walk in. Cold stone and Moe's both say hello when I come in and make me feel important. I wish more places did this.
My other complaint is that the bowls are sooo small. At cold stone I can stuff myself on just icecream until my stomach hurts for maybe $5. At the gelato company they serve everything in small bowls and try to trick you by giving you small spoon. Don't fall for it. When I tried to ask for a bigger bowl and a bigger spoon the scooper rolled his eyes at me. Talk about not respecting the customer!
