My husband and I were looking for a nice Japanese restaurant, close to home, reasonably priced - this is the place. We have been there four times now and have had very good service with servers who are attentive and smiling. Everthing we have tried has been very good and the portions very ample.
My family had eaten here before with mom and liked the food. So we arranged a 95th birthday dinner for my mother and all I can say is everyone thought the food was excellent. We had both sushi and cooked food and they were all delicious. We did create a menu ahead of time of what my party liked, so had good service and everything came the appropriate time. All we know is mom had an enjoyable, delicious, cozy birthday dinner here.
The decore is beautiful. It reminds me of a restaurant ithat belongs in San Francisco. The food is OK. nothing to scream about, but ok. Prices are a bit on the high side. Service is slow, but friendly.
The food is okay. Portions are decent. What you have to watch out for is some of the employees. Particularly, a employee name Austin, half White/Asian guy. Went there with my friend to go eat. He spent the whole time fixated on my friend. Gave her great service, I was invisible though. I could have swore I was a customer and ordered food too. Fast track to the end, he thank her for eating, but was hesitant to thank me even after I was pointed out by my friend that I was a customer too. Very unprofessional. Message to the boss. Austin has earned this review for your business and also all the negative reviews and word of mouth that I will be telling everyone I know to stay away. Be smart, fire him. For the record, I was not a complicated customer, order tea and sushi.
I have been to this place twice, and both times the food was great. Price is a little high, but food is great, placeis clean, and the service was okay. It did take a while before we got our sushi, but the place was packed. It wasnt unreasonable waiting...I think the people who are saying negative things about this place must be their competition. I would highly recommend this placeplace for anyone looking for good sushi, and delicious udon!!!
I'm not sure about these other reviews but I've been a loyal customer for almost a year now and I can say this place is damn near great. They have some of the best sushi rolls and sashimi plates I have had in the whole area. Yes, almost all of the staff are from the local high school but to date I have never had a real problem. I only ONCE in my whole time going have ever had food come to me late, and several of the staff go out of their way to come say hi to me and my family. The only reason I am leaving a star off of the review is because they don't serve cold green tea, a favorite of mine. All they do is pour hot tea into a cup and put lots of ice in it. Otherwise, this place is top notch.
Happy Sashimi was an unhappy experience. Our dinner came befoe the appetizer. We asked for the manager who refused to come and see us. The servers are untrained. They don't know how to serve. I have been here 3 times, each time hoping that the service had changed. It didn't. I bothered to go back because the food was okay, the location was convenient. But the service is truly horrible that I bothered to write this review. Save yourself the trouble and the frustration. Go find somewhere else to eat. From a native Pinole resident.
