Oh my goodness, their ice cream is fresh & homemade. They can also give you a sample. Lavender/Ginger was excellent. Esp the Salty caramel. Please try their cookies.. YUMMMY! I've been here at least 3 times already.

We’ve only been here a couple of times. Now this place is our Secret breakfast ice cream. It is delicious; especially bourbon flavored ice cream with cornflakes! :D

Delicious. Very tasty. Generous scoops. Well worth any wait, and there normally is one because it's popular. If you get too tired of the line and you have a freezer nearby, the BiRite market down the street from the creamery sells pints of the ice cream. Mmm....

Heaven.

This place makes me glad I moved to the Mission. Before I moved here, I would buy it by the pint and keep it in my freezer. I still don't know what my favorite flavor is -- honey lavender? roasted banana? or perhaps you, salted caramel? It's good to know that my junk food habit supports these guys. Birite is locally owned and sources its ingredients from local farms including Strauss family creamery. This place is an SF treasure. Don't try to come here on a hot day -- the DP crowds will have you beat.

roasted bananas in ma mouth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/16/09
Oh man, their roasted banana ice cream is so delicious. Usually when you ask for graham crackers on ice cream, you get a bunch of graham cracker powder all over whipped cream and it kind of tastes like dirt. Bi-rite had gigantic chunks of very delicious graham crackers, definitely not honey graham, all over their roasted banana ice cream with dark caramel sauce. Man, that was a climax, in ma mouth.

Rich & Delicious (bring your wallet!)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/11/09
Bi Rite is a decadent snack, in two ways: it's Strauss dairy, which is rich and delicious. And they have fun and tasty flavors of iced cream. It's also quite decadent in price! Go for the salted caramel for something crazy good.

So, the ice cream is pretty good. They had quite a few flavors to choose from. I went with a Brown Butter Pecan & Malted Vanilla with Peanut Brittle. Very smooth and creamy, but not too sweet. Although, I wouldn't say it was "to die for" it was worth waiting in line. The price wasn't outrageous either. I would still recommend Mitchell's over this just because of the greater selection but still delicious ice cream.

OK, what can I say about this place. I love their ice cream. Their hot fudge sundaes are TDF. They have some of the most unusual flavors like salted caramel, honey lavender and chai spiced milk chocolate. From what I gather, seasonality plays a big factor in what flavors they have. My personal FAV is is honey lavender. All of their stuff is made on the premises and not in some factory in a RED state.
