I personally do not understand all of the negative reviews. The Bank is incredible! This is definitely one place you must stop at in Richmond. The decor is fantastic, the artwork inside is amazing. Downstairs, the Vault, is equally great. The music is always on key. The Shrimp and Grits are amazing. I live in Lynchburg currently, and The Bank and Vault are worth the two hour drive.
One of the worst restaurant experiences in my life! Went for my wifes birthday and was shocked at how poor this restaurant was run. We had a party of 8 people and order 3 apps to start which were ok. My mozzarella app which came with a balsamic reduction came out with no sauce at all. We then wait 3 hours for dinner!!!! We were offered 2 bottles of Korbel which was a nice attempt but when we were alredy drinking Clicquot that fell short as well. My chicken dish was ok. The chicken itself was cook well but once again ther was NO sauce and the couscous was cold as well as the veg. The rest of the table found the food to be inedible. The wait staff was never there when you needed them. There was no manager and the acting manager was clueless. To top it all off they hit us with a 20% auto tip. I couldnt believe it. I would not advise any one to eat here. Save your money and TIME.
I went to Bank with my wife and another couple and I was worried because of the recent poor reviews that our experience would be a bad one. First things first - the food is great here. I don't know what people are complaining about. I had the lamb and my wife had the shrimp and grits and both were outstanding. Our server was really personable and her service never missed a beat. The only thing this place could use? More people enjoying this food! The place was practically DEAD except for the bar. I guess it's the recession. Maybe cheaper prices would draw more people in.
My wife and I went to the bank for Valentine's day and after being impressed by the architecture and use of space we were greated by fantastic live music. But that is where the superlatives end. The menu was extremely limited, as expected on V-Day, but with only fish and a steak my wife could not find anything for herself. I recieved about an inch of soup at the bottom of a huge bowl and a salad with very little dressing on it. My wife had to ask for croutons. After eating both of our steaks and finding that 'medium' could mean anything from pink to well done went home hungry and disappointed. The waiter even tried to add our drinks onto the bill even though they were included on their holiday deal. Won't go back.
