Welcome to a slightly more stylish and expensive take on a good old American Steakhouse. BLT Steak in downtown Washington serves the classic dishes that all hard-core carnivores love, mixed up with some contemporary American fare. Hues of browns dominate the casual atmosphere and sighs of satisfaction are often heard. Steaks, jumbo shrimp, meaty sandwiches, oysters and more are available. If you have space left, the decadent desserts shouldn't be missed. A big appetite and a loaded wallet are essential prerequisites for dining here.
We were seated at a table for 2 between 2 very loud groups of people. We were barely able to hear each other. The food was good, but definitely not the caliber we ve had at BLT before. I ordered the Dover Sole at $49 because it was so amazing when I had it at White Plains, NY. It was thick, tough and over cooked, almost crispy. My Husbands steak was tough. The waitress was hardly around except when we asked for the bill. She returned to retrieve her tip licitly split.
We have been to 2 other BLT Steak restaurants, Miami and White Plains. Both were much better then the service and food at the Washington DC restaurant. If this had been our first time, we d probably not ever go to another BLT Steak.
It's quite disappointing for a steak house to overcook your steak!
Not just one steak, but at least three out of a party of 8; especially when the steakhouse is supposed to be a stylish, elegant, and more upscale restaurant.
So if you're looking for less glamour and more steak, consider Capital Grille, Morton's or even Ruth's Chris.
