This place was a ripoff! The sandwiches are tiny, overpriced, and you have to buy each topping which was ridiculous. The guy behind the counter was very rude and the food wasn't that good. Avoid this place and go eat at a restaurant outside of Williamsburg.

Im from Petersburg, VA, which is a good hour and some change from Williamsburg. Most of the time i go to Williamsburg it's usually only to go to the Cheese Shop so i can get my hankering for a turkey sandwich. Yea it's not very cheap, and yea its not very filling, but i would pay that $5.50 for a sandwich that knocks my socks off. Its so great. The meat is fresh and delicious the cheese is to die for and we always get a bag of bread ends and a half pound of provolone to bring back home with us. This place to me is a one of a kind and this will always be my first stop everytime i go to Williamsburg.

the best thing about this place is the homemade sauce college kids buy with a bag of bread ends and dip it. Everything else is grossly overpriced.....tasty, yes, but overpriced. maybe you're paying for the location and their high rent......have a kid at W&M and have visited this store several times.....always cringe if someone wants to go there because I know it will cost a lot and I won't get filled up.

Hands down, THE best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. And I take sandwiches seriously! It's always packed for a reason- the food is worth every minute of the wait! My recommendation is the turkey & provolone on french with the house dressing. I've driven from my home in Durham, NC for one of these sandwiches!

I went there yesterday and the place was packed and there food was so good and their prices were reasonable. So, if you are in town you must go to the Cheese Shop on Duke of Glouster street!

This is an average deli. The most significant thing about it is that it gets away with being overpriced because of its location. If you are recognized as a tourist you will be fawned over, but if you are a local...HA! Sandwiches are ok, but nothing about it warrants it making a list like this.

My boyfriend and I just returned from visiting Williamsburg and one of our favorite experiences was picking out a nice wine and various cheeses and sitting on the patio at the Cheese Shop. We also had a sandwich there one of the days and it was excellent.

I agree with the last review. I was here the week of Feb. 8th because of a coference at the Williamsburg Inn. I was very unimpressed with the Cheese Shop's prices. A cute little shop to wonder through but don't spend twice for items you can buy in your local grocer. The same items can be found in Marshall's and TJ Maxx (just down the street) for 1/2 the price. The cheese, go to Harris Teeter! The staff does not have time or maybe they are just overworked to speak. I was not impressed with the selection of wine either. I ended up buying some of the same wine at the Marriott for about $3 cheaper per bottle; shop around. Don't be wrapped up in buying from "Colonial Williamsburg" and forget to price shop. Go to the Peanut Shop, free samples and great items! From NC and love to come to Williamsburg...enjoy your trip!
