During our past working experience in New York City we developed a love and appreciation for the cityac2s spirito. Sfoglia is located on 135 East 92nd street at the corner of Lexington Avenue (diagonally across from the 92nd street Y). Our Renaissance-influenced menu changes bi-monthly inspired by the seasonally available produce from the Greenmarket network. We encourage diners to eat allac2Italiana sampling an antipasto, a primo plate of Sfogliaac2s renowned pasta ac Sfoglia means an uncut sheet of pasta ac a secondo of naturally-raised meats, or Long Island fish, a contorno made with ingredients from area farms, and a dolce from Sfogliaac2s menu of deliziosi desserts. Our all-Italian list of vini, aperitivi, e digestivi offers an unusual selection. The unfussy, casual elegance of Sfogliaac2s interior with its mismatched antique tables, pistachio-colored marble bar, and pink-bronze Murano-style chandeliers puts the diner at ease. We hope that Sfoglia will become a tradition with you and you will come back to our table often.
Sfoglia is a gem in the UES. The clientele is a little stuffy but this place helps to squelch that. Food is heavy but good, very traditional italian for the most part. The decor is really the winner. Stepping into the dining room on 92nd st. will make you feel like you are downtown...and that is very welcome.
I'd give it 4 stars if the clientele were not so obnoxious.
A 6 week wait for reservations warrants a wonderful experience. The restaurant is very nice inside, the staff is excellent. It offers all of the traditional Italian courses and many selections of wine. However, the taste and quantity does not justify the exorbitant price. My share of my party's lunch was $50.00; I was still hungry after a hailed a cab.
