Being a food snob that I am, I visit chocolate sushi once a month. The food
is fresh and authentic. It reminds me of the sushi during the doc com
boom where the sushi was fresh and good. This place has the best sushi
around. The service is tops and the staff is very kind and friendly.
I love this place.
I know this place as Chocolate Sushi. It's owned/managed by Korean folks. I'm Korean, but my husband is hispanic and I don't look very Korean myself. Let's just say that sometimes you don't get what you ordered on the menu. I ordered a Cherry Blossom roll and instead of avocado and tuna, they used cucumber and tuna. I asked them to correct it because I don't like cucumbers. They waitress took my order back with a displeased expression and returned with a roll that had avocado slices literally smashed and wedged into the roll in addition with the cucumber. It looked so unappetizing but I didn't want to waste my time so I just let it slide. The only reason why I give this place a decent amount of stars is because my mother is in love with this place for their Korean food and Chirashi bowl. I could agree - but if you really want some good Sushi, try Sushi O Sushi on El Camino as well. They're my all-time favorite for freshness.
I went there awhile back, not too long after they opened.
Unfortunately they somehow forgot our order. When we asked, they apologized of course and gave us some complimentary edamame to munch on. Food came not too long after that. Portions were good for the price, sushi was fresh, meat was nice and seared, etc.
Decor is nice and spacious. Not the best location, and hours are short if you want a late dinner or party.
Well I went to Kampai because of the reviews I read this evening....My birthday today!!!!!!
Boy were we disapointed...Our waiter Chris, was slow to show up at the table, we got our Tempura which was good, then the hostess showed up with our oysters, we ask her what they were and she said she I have no idea. After taking a bite we figured it out. As we sat there waiting for the rest of our meal, for about 30 mins,Chris came back and asked if we wanted anything else tonite, my boyfriend and I sat there and looked at each other, where's the rest of our dinner? He forgot and said they had a really big party, ( 8 ) people. scary.....We got our check and left, IN and Out Burger anyone? Which is right down the street...........
