I'm from the area and have never had a bad experience at this restaurant. I live out in Camillus now and still go to Avicollis over any other italian cuisine in the area. My wife is from Iowa and she absolutely loves it and had never had anything as good as this before. I can see where the pizzeria side might be a little confusing with the way you place an order but unless your missing a chromosome I think you can figure it out instead of standing there scratching your balls waiting for staff. If you have never been there then you need to try it.
if you thought the liverpool location was bad you really should see the fingerlakes mall one. the manager herself waited on us she hit on my boyfriend then tried to serve us pizza that looked like it was 2 weeks old. really bad dont go there,
I order delivery from them everytime. They are usually on time, 45 minutes. They have never forgot anything for my order which I can not say for any other pizza delivery I have ordered from. (I dont order from Pizza Hut bc I work there) The pizza is always hot and fresh. Thier employees are helpful and polite. Overall it's a great experience. It normally around 30 (with 5 dollar tip included) for a large 1 topping, 12 wings, and a soda! Can't go wrong here!!!
The pizzeria at Avicolli's in Liverpool is probably my favorite sit-down pizza restaurant in the Syracuse area. It has a neat retro décor and big, spacious benches that seat four comfortably. The pizza itself is very good. One of my complaints about pizza in Syracuse is how inconsistent most places are - you get a great pie one time and finally think you've found 'the place', only to be disappointed on your next visit. This is not the case with Avicolli's - I have found their pizza to be consistently good on every visit. I would get my takeout pizza there every time except for the fact that I live on the west side of town, but it's definitely our 'go to' place for a sit-down pizza.
On our visit last week, we ordered buffalo wings, a large cheese pizza and a large pizza with half mushrooms and half anchovies. When it came time to order drinks, the friendly young lady behind the counter helpfully suggested ordering a two-liter of soda instead of individual cups, saving us a few dollars. We asked that the wings be fried nice and crispy and they did not disappoint, although the half of the order that was 'medium' heat for the kids was pretty mild (the 'hot' wings were plenty hot). The pizzas arrived after a short wait and were perfectly prepared. The crust here is a little thicker than traditional 'New York' style pizza but I actually prefer it that way. The mushrooms on the second pizza were fresh, and my wife was very pleased with her slices with anchovies. The two large pizza were plenty for a family of four, and the prices were very reasonable. I strongly recommend a visit.
I love the pizza; it's amazing. I have only eaten at the restaurante side once and I wasn't enthused about my alfredo sauce (it had to much butter in it), but my boyfriend liked his chicken parm. The only complaint I could come up with is the portions. The restaurant side portions were fine, but sometimes the pizzaria portions are skimpy. The mushroom appetizer is $7.oo for 5 mushrooms. Sometimes the calzones are decent size, but sometimes they are really tiny for what they cost. it varies depending on who is cooking. The restaurant we used to eat at before we moved had calzones 3 times the size for the same price. However they do taste great. However, the pizza is always a fabulous bet.
I love Avicolli's. Good food most employees are friendly. I prefer the pizzeria side better because leaving a tip is not expected and you can order anything on the menu:)
delivery and take out is definitely not as good as eating in and ordering a fresh out of the over delicious pizza... highly recommended.
The best pizza and wings... just make sure to ask for extra sauce. I grew up in Liverpool and now live in Cali where I cannot get a good pizza to save my life and this is one of my first stops as soon as I get back to Syracuse.
have been to Avicolli many times and disagree with Frank. My Italian girl friend and her family like the place very much. Our Singles group goes there every year.
People taste in pizza vary as much as the varieties of pizza made so I don't make pizza recommedations. But I like Avicolli's thin crust pizza with a lot of toppings. They make other types of pizza as well.
There are two sides to Avicoli's. Yahoo even makes it seem like there are two restaurants but it is really one. One side is a sit down Italian restaurant. The other side is pizzeria where you order at the counter and sit in hard booths. Both sides have good Italian dishes, a lot more than pizza and subs. They share a bar area.
If you want good Italian food try Avicolli's If you want to save a time and little money (including the tip), try the pizzeria. For more fomal dining go the the restaurant side.
