Sawa Steak House, Youngstown

I've had decent service and bad service their. I've never had great service. The service from the female waiters is poor to just mediocre. I've had the manager over to my table to let him know when the service is lousy. The poor service on two ocassions was from the same waitress. I noticed that she treated her European customers with more patience and diligence to their needs. I've been back to Sawa's many times since my complaint with that waitress, thankfully she has not waited on me since then, thou she was working. Other female waitress and male waiters have all be adequate. Again not great but adequate. I can never, however complain about the quality of the food, the food is always 4 to 5 stars.

Great food (even though you do not get enough), service is horrible. They are really rude, they don't give you refills, 3 of us got seated when the 4th friend arrived the rude waiter never asked him what he wanted to drink, the 4th friend never got a drink until I had to flag down the waiter and tell him what he wanted. Service is just really bad.

Was there on Sat. Very crowded. Alltables taken except for 1. Lucky us, we got a new cook. He was absolutely terrible! No show , no talk and food was burnt and cold by the time you received the veggies. Spoke to the Manager quietly. Said she was sorry but couldnrt do anything because she was ONLY the manager. WOW! They ended up giving us a gift cert for $20. We had NO intenetions of returning. We wanted the one meal taken off completely. For a shrimp and scallops meal my husband received 5 small shrinp and 2 for an appt. and 5 scallops the size of a quarter. What a rip off. When theres a problem they act like they cant understand you. How can you have a busniess in the US and NOT speak or understand English. I think this is there way of playing dumb!!! As for us whom were regulars- my favorite rest. to this point. We will not longer be customers and want everyone to know. Besides plates and portions are 1/2 the size as before. The cooks must not receive much training. Maybe on the job. Burnt food and Bad service all the way around. Try somewhere else next time who have plates not appetiser dishes.

My boyfriend and I have always enjoyed eating at Sawa, the food is good and it's always entertaining, but recently I planned a surprise birthday party their for him and I made reservations for 6pm for everyone to arrive, at 6:04 they had already gave away our table for 25 people. 4 minutes! Really?! Not only that but they gave away our table to a party that just walked in with NO reservations! Absolutely terrible and disappointing. If I were you I would NOT plan a get together their, especially if you have a large group of people.

I decided to have my husband's 40th B-day party at Sawa and I will not go back again. I made reservations for 13 people several weeks ahead of time, when our guests arrived before us they were asked to move 3 times. I told the lady manager.owner that this was my husband's B-day and that I would appreciate their accomodations of our table-they wanted to seat others with us (strangers). After we were finished eating and as my husband was opening his gifts, one of the male owners/managers asked for payment of the bill (we paid for everyone that night). I was offended and told the manager that he was opening his gifts and to come back. He kept hovering over our table, we felt rushed and one member of our party left due to the rudeness of the managers/owners. The food was good and the wait staff was great, however. I still can't believe how rude the management was ;we were not even there 2 hours. I will not return there again. You would think that when you spend more than $300.00 for dinner you would be treated like gold, we we not.

It had a romantic feel but would also be a great place for friends and work-related dinners. It isn't a good place for children but would be a great first impression on a first date! The prices were a bit high but the sushi was good.

I have been to many sushi joints all over the U.S and i have to say this is one of the best!!! Verry Nice!!!
