Akira Japanese Restaurant, Ashburn

I was not happy to see on other sites such as 'yelp', that this restaurant had less than 5 stars. People much preferred places such as Samurai Sushi. Well, as of date, I have tried almost all sushi restaurants within Ashburn and Sterling and I can honestly say this is the best sushi place for me. Fresh food, great ambiance and good customer service. Now nothing is perfect, the only critic I will have is their white tuna sushi. I love white tuna, but don't like it here. I think perhaps if it was cut more thinly (along with the salmon) and perhaps marinaded in sake too, it might be better. Aside from the sushi, I love their shumai, hibachi vegetables, yakitori, katsu dishes and salmon teriyaki.

AWESOME...what a surprise tucked away in a strip mall off of HWY 7. My new FAVORITE Japanese restaurant. From the welcome greeting and throughout the your time at Akira, the staff will make you feel at home. I got the specials and then some. The fatty tuna melted in my mouth, the unagi was enormous and delicious, tempora shrimp roll and spicy crab roll were similarly quite good. Now that I know Akira is for real, next time I'll try some saki.

Akira is great. The sushi is fresh and the specials are excellent. Their special rolls of the day a really tasty and inventive. Service is impeccable. The dress code is casual and the decor is very modern. This is some of the best sushi in the metro area.

LOVE Akira sushi. Best place in the area!!! great service, atmosphere and food. The only thing i wish was better is the salad dressing. But other than that it is great!

Great little place to eat. Decor is great, staff is ultra-friendly and efficient and the food is pretty darn good. I'm not a salad fan and didn't plan on sampling it, but I was hooked after a taste of the dressing. Sushi was very appealing; aesthetically and flavor-wise. I would def. recommend this as a stop 4 anyone in the area.

Great restaurant, everyone is friendly the foods great. Great for even those who don't like sushi. I love the teriyaki chicken. Comes with free miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. Delicious!

Absolutly wonderful! The Moonlight and the Ashburn are my favorites. I order it every time I go to Akira!!!! I love the service and the food is always fresh, and if you come during dinner and sit a the counter, they always give a great show when preparing the food!!!! I love them!!!!

You should go there!! My favorite restaurant. Sushi is frestest in VA. The special rolls are very fantastic!! The severs and chefs are very kind and give us great service. The service is satisfied!!! You can get a free miso soup and salad with great dressing. Great service, Great food, and Great price~

What a great Japanese Restaurant!!! Sushi is fresh as it can be and also try the Akira Moonlight roll. It's fantastic. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.
