I don't know what these other people are eating that is so good. (Perhaps they work for the restaurant?).
I went to this place about a month ago for the first time, and was extremely disappointed. I've eaten at a ton of oriental restaurants in my time, in cities all over the country, but this is the worst I've ever tried.
I arrived with two others to a full dining room, and was very optimistic. My first clue that something wasn't right was the water. It had the worst aftertaste. I then tried the steamed dumplings, they were ok, but I've had better.
We waited a long time for our entres. Our waitress never came around to give us updates, while we watched people around us who arrived later than we did eat their food.
We finally recieved our entres. I had the chicken cashiew. It was awful. It had a VERY heavy gravy-like sauce, with lots of cornstarch. NO taste at all. Within 20 minutes I had the worst heartburn.
The other two people in my party ordered other entres, but had the same experience, and none of us finished our food. We left very disappointed and felt ripped off.
Simply the best Asian dishes in Sarasota! This is NOT a Cantonese-style resturant. It's Asian — Thai, Vietnamese, Sze-Chuan. The food is excellent, and always served hot, fresh and fast. The vegetables are never overcooked, and the meat is always tender. The noodle soups are perfect during the winter months, or anytime really.
The owner always recognizes regulars by name and chats when she's not too busy.
I have a fondness for the red curry. It has pineapple in it, something I didn't think I'd like, but it's fantastic. The steamed dumplings are an excellent appetizer. All the dishes have unique flavors that blend well together.
Lunch comes with a cup of soup and a small salad with an couple of tasty dressing choices.
I recommend this place to anyone who likes Asian dining.
