Went there for lunch today - came home sick! Had the fish tacos . Wondered why the corn and black bean salsa could not come on the side when I ordered it. That is because it was a frozen mess that they deep fried. Please look up what the difference between a taco and a chimmichanga is. Filling was much akin to cat food with a stronger smell and less taste! Will not return. One star for the sweet potato fries!
Do not waste your time and money. We went there tonight based on a recommendation from the front desk of our hotel. We were seated on the pier to watch the sun go down. We ordered an app with our kid's meals. The menu is ridiculously expensive and we had trouble deciding. Our kid's meals came out very quickly and tasted very good. Then the problems started. Our drinks were never refilled despite the waiter walking by our table multiple times. The service was slow and unattendant. The adult meals took forever to come out and the app came out WITH our dinners and was extremely overcooked and indelible. Our dinners had obviously sat under the heat lamps for a long time were dried out and cold and the fried sea food plate was soggy and cold. The prime rib was very overcooked. Very disappointing!!
My husband and I drove down on the Sunday before Memorial Day. We had a nice experience overall. Although they were busy, we were seated and served promptly. I got grilled bacon wrapped shrimp, served with roasted sweet potatoes and a nice grilled vegie medley. The shrimp had a subtle maple syrup sauce that was nice. Had read some not-so-great reviews before going there, so we were pleasantly surprised. The owner was out on the floor, busting his hump, helping to clean tables and seat patrons. Will definitely return.
My family enjoyed an excellent meal with great service at the Fishy Fishy Cafe. This was our first time eating there and the first time we had visited Southport. I had the fried shrimp for $15.99. I love shrimp. I try the shrimp at every sea food restaurant I visit. I can honestly say this is the best shrimp I've ever had. It had more flavor than any I've ever put in my mouth. My wife had the chicken spiedini which neither of us had ever tried. It too was excellent. Full of flavor. We ate outside with a beautiful view of the docks. Our waiter really went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying our meal. I see some older reviews that are negative. I would not pay them much attention. Our family enjoyed one of the best meals we ever had. We will definately be back and we'll bring friends and family with us.
We like this place. The service is not the best, but the food is good and the views are awesome. Our kids (10 & 11) like this place as well which is half the battle. I would recommend it but expect to wait during the summer months.
My husband and I stopped at Fishy Fish on Saturday and waited 20 minutes before anyone came over. The waiter did apologize and they were not that busy. The food was ok. We both ordered wraps, the fries were good as was the salad. We will not be returning to this place.
The best part about this cafe is the view and that it sits on the docks in south port. We walked into this place and the hostess did not even welcome us at all. Then we were finally brought to our table were we sat for about 15 minutues. Finally, a waitress comes over and takes the order! Brought the food back later with drinks and that was the last time that we saw her! She did not even offer any re-fills! Also, food was just ok. It was not worth the price that you pay to eat there. My wife ordered a baja steak wrap that had only four small pieces of steak in it. It should have been for a child! Overall, there are too many other great places to dine at in Southport! Please dont waste your time, efforts, and money on this place. They want even appreciate the business.
I've been a regular customer since 2007. New owners took over at the end of 2007 and they had a complete management overhaul by December 2008 and have new servers and better service in 2009. Food is outstanding. Summer time is usually busy so there are waits, but relax and have a drink. It’s worth the wait.
My wife and I have been to Fishy Fishy 4 times over the course of 3 years and each time we've come away very impressed with the quality of the food and the pleasant service. I will admit that we've gotten lucky with the service. Our waitresses have always been very pleasant and not loud or pushy. There are some servers at Fishy Fishy that I would want waiting on me. I had the blackened grouper and my wife had the blackened scallolps. Both were excellent!
Ordered a bowl of she-crab soup. The serving should had been a cup not bowl. It was delivered at a degree or two above room temp. I will not be going back. After leaving Fishy Fishy I stopped at Fuzzy Mae's because I was still hungry and had their oyster Po-Boy it was awesome.
