I have been to casona several times and enjoyed it immensley. i was a little hesitant at first, a new place usually needs to work out the kinks, however, i found it to be wonderful. besides the excellent meals that i had, recommend the salmon, and also the pork chop. dining on the porch on a nice evening is worth the trip
What a great find.!!!! Great diverse menu of Cuban, Latin and Spanish treats. Also some American dishes for gringos.
We were sooo impressed with every meal over many visits to this restaurant, so we got them to do a catered meal for 60. Everything went perfectly, and the food got raves from ALL of the attendees. So I guess this counts as 60 great reviews!?. Many sought out the restaurant for later meals. The ambiance cannot be beat: it's romantic yet family friendly-how do they do that? They have great heaters for the fall, so the porch is still open and enclosed.
We especially like the lechon, steaks, weekend brunch, tres leches, and chicken and rice, and Casona fresh tropical fruit salad. The Cuban sandwich also should not to be missed, and the dessert menu keeps expanding. They also have a small. but snazzy coffee bar that people relax at to try the special smoothies and coffees.
Oh, let me also mention we love the Latin jazz house band that plays occasionally. Be sure to have a reservation on weekends, as the place is really catching on!
While we love walking to the many great new byo places in Collingswood, Casona is a Caribbean island unto itself!!
I've been to Casona many times and except for once, have enjoyed it very much. The one time I have a problem, it was with a lazy, nattentive server. She seemed out of it. It's not that she was rude, just bad. I complained to the owner and he acted on it. She has since been fired for mine and other issues. I have decided to give it five stars because of some of the unfair bashing on this and other sites. The management care about the customer experience.. It's a beauftiful place. The food is allways great. Don't miss brunch. They have have a full service coffee house on site. The best cafe con leche this side of Tierra Colombiana... Check it out...
Great atmosphere, from the wrap around porch to the decor inside. The Black-bean soup garnished with plantains are to die for. Highly recommend bringing a bottle of rum to mix with their Mojitos. Contrary to many posts prior I found the service to be very courteous and attentive. I got the special and was over charged, when I called to bring it to their attention I received consistent followup from both the manager and to owner to correct the error. Mistakes occur and for me the measure is the response. And if any critic is to judge otherwise I would love to trade for their perfect life.
Point this is a fine restaurant in a great town, unfortunately many people in this region have the entitlement illness. Patience is a virtue, and any thing good is worth waiting for.
Best wishes and great food Casona!
We LOVE Casona. The food is excellent, the staff friendly and personable, and the atmosphere is beautiful. My fiance and I love to sit out on the porch and enjoy Sunday brunch or dinner. We are from Philadelphia and we have brought friends from out of town to enjoy this Collingswood gem. We like it so much that we have decided to have our wedding rehearsal dinner there. The owner was completely professional and we are looking forward to the party. Thanks Casona!
I have enjoyed dining at this restaurant for brunch, lunch and dinner. Staff has always been helpful and eager to please. The food is very good, and I have used Casona to cater two events. People are always impressed when I bring them to Casona - they enjoy the atmosphere as well as the food. My personal favorites are the lechon, the citrus salad and the tres leches. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Casona has the best brunch this side of New York. Having lived there for twenty-years - I should know. Me and my better half love that you can bring your own for mimosas, etc. The facility is beautiful and clean. The food is tasty and fresh. The owner and staff are dedicated and friendly pros. Cuban food is not spicy usually, but the huevos rancheros have a nice kick. We have friends that live in Collingswood. It's really cool to visit them and relax. There are some other great restaurants in Collingswood. None are as nice as Casona. I also think that classifying Casona as a byo, does not do it justice. This a large, full service, world class restaurant. It's great that they have so many supporters and regulars. Shame on those who have attempted to bash this place. Why? Because you had to wait ten minutes for a reservation on a Saturday? Or was it that they wouldn't let you be abusive to them. We go to some of the best restaruants in the world, and none of them are perfect.
There is no place like Casona. It truly stands out. The open air Caribbean design of Casona makes you feel like you are on vacation. I have dined there many times and have never been disappointed. Sure they have occastional issues with wait times, etc., but it is worth it. It's such a beautiful and cozy, I can't help but want to take my time. The steaks and seafood are excellent. They have some authentic Cuban dishes but they are more Neuvo if you ask me. Brunch is awesome. It's great for large groups and private parties. Don't listen to any bashing about Casona. This place admits and makes up for mistakes.
