Thai Angel Restaurant, Islandia

Just came home from the worst Thai food I ever had. Tom Ka Kai (Chicken Soup) was thin and tasteless with tough chicken, Pad Thai was was nothing like we ever seen or tasted before, the orange curry was like a soup and no taste. And, service was slow with no help when I explained the organge curry was not a curry as I know it. I will never to back again. Too bad, since the last time we were there (over a year ago) it was terrific.

If you like asian cooking at its best, then you owe it to yourself to try this place. It is a first class dining experience, from top to bottom.(Soup to Nuts) I can't wait to get back there. And I drive a 1/2 hour happily to get there!!

A 10 out of a 10 for everything !!! this is the best THAI restaurant in LONG ISLAND and maybe even NYC ...

Great food, great atmosphere, great prices. I have eated in Thai resturants all over Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn and this one is by far my favorite, The food is always perfectly seasoned never drowning in sauce like you will find in other thai resturants. As far as the wait... you have to give them a break, running a small business is expensive and hard work. Call ahead for take out if you dont want to wait they always have the food ready within the time frame they give you. Recommend this place and bring friends. I want to make sure this great place stays around.

Unfornately we agree with the previous review the food is always very good and the presentation is beautiful; however each time we go the wait is longer and longer. There is usually only one waitress(the owner)for the entire place and she isn't capable of handling the approx. 130 person capacity. It took over 30 minutes to be acknowledged once we had a table (that she sat us at). Another 15 minutes for drinks and the meal was 45 miutes after that. This is not the type of place that you would expect to sit for an hour and a half to eat at. In the end, stop in, if the place is near empty sit and enjoy a terrific meal. If it looks busy in the slightest, try another restaurant.

Folks, this is a GREAT Thai restaurant! For a starter we had the Shrimp Sa Bai Thong. The presentation was simple but elegant. It was served with a sweet sauce that could have been made better with more chili sauce added. We followed that with the papaya salad that had shrimp, raw papaya,tomato,beans, peanuts, chili pepper and lime. For the main entre we had the scallops basil served in a copper bowl served over a lighted candle base - it was spicy, so those that are feint of spice should ask to tone it down. We finished with the fried vanilla ice cream that was served in a flamed rasberry sauce with a hint of chocolate. It was an excellent finish. The ambience was very nice where a conversation was easily held without shouting as is the problem in many restaurants these days. Soft Thai music played in the background. On the negative side, the staff was having a difficult time keeping up with the number of patrons that kept coming in waves. That said, the ladies were still attentive and the service was satisfactory. One other touch that I didn't think I would like when brought to the table was serving the Singha (Thai Beer-very good lager) in a huge elephant mug. The mug was cold and the lager went down easily. If you find yourself within an hour of this restaurant some day, any day, it's a worthwhile stop that will leave you impressed.

This restaurant is outstanding. The food is always great, as is the service. The atmosphere is calm and authentic. We have been here many times and will be back many more times. We highly recommend you experience all that Thai Angel has to offer.
