Texas 290 Diner, Johnson City

We were driving back to Ft. Worth from Frederickberg and stopped to eat with our 1 year old daughter. The prices seemed very fair so we decided to stop. Service was OK, that is to say, our waitress seemed nice enough. We ordered an appetizer of fried pickles since our daughter was starving and each got the chicken fried steak special. It took an HOUR for our pickles to come out. We continued to wait another 15 minutes with my daughter screaming and decided an hour and 15 minutes was an unacceptable amount of time to wait for chicken fried steak. I told the waitress we were leaving at which time she stomped back to the kitchen and begun yelling at the cook that we were leaving. In short, this place sucked! I m sure the food would have been good, but I wasn t waiting around to find out.

Best food in town, fair prices, great service and not pretending to be other than what it is, a great place for lunch.
