Excelent service and food. We ordered and shared an appetizer, the Chicken Satay (5) Grilled marinated chicken on a stick, served with peanut sauce and cucumber sauce $ 6.99,
main course was Thai Chili Crispy Duck sauteed with hot chili basil sauce topped with crispy basil leaves. $13.99 and the Duck Pad Ped, Stir-fried sliced roasted duck with bamboo shoots, fresh pepper, and basil leaves. $13.99. we definitely will be back when in DC.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Max, the waiter checked on me without being too obtrusive. The atmosphere was upscale and the decor was pleasant. But, the most important thing is, of course, the food.
I had the Chicken Panang. I know that there are many different regional takes on panang sauce, but my favorite is a spicy peanut sauce with peanut chunks in it. I was not disappointed. The sauce was spicy enough to be exciting, but did not overpower the creamy, peanuty taste. Small chunks of peanut added a nice texture to the sauce.
The chicken was thinly sliced, but not to thin to have texture in every bite. A bit of broccolli added some color to the dish.
The rice was cooked perfectly. Not too dry and not too sticky.
The price was higher than usual by about 10-15 percent. But it was commensurate with the area and atmosphere.
I will eat here again, when in D.C.
Price: Above average
Staff: Courtesy, friendly and anticipates needs.
Take out: all of the above, and fast.
Ordered: Pineapple fried chicken and it was great!
Highly recommend this place ONLY if you are in the area, no need to drive all the way to DC for it.
Sure has been a while since there was a review for this place. I went here because all the other places around had a long wait. What a pleasant surprise. The staff weren't particularly awesome, but were nice and attentive enough. The place is a bit small but has a nice feel to it. Located right next to/within the Verizon Center means it has a great location. The food however was just GREAT! I had the Panang chicken based off the waitress's recommendation. It was simply delicious. I look forward to returning to try more menu items.
If only they delivered. It's good to great red curry and the appetizers. Haven't tried anything else. I've been there several times and the staff seem to walk around in a daze. Other than that, a great stop before a movie or event.
Despite years of eating Thai food, I can honestly say I'd never felt in all that time that I'd ever had bad Thai food. Thai Chili at the MCI center changed all that. The first time we went there, I noticed that everything (all the food sauces and my Thai iced tea) seemed to be overly sweet, and nothing actually tasted very good as a result. Actually, it all kind of tasted like corn syrup. I thought it must be a fluke and so I was willing to go back for a second visit, figuring we'd just all ordered the wrong things. Not so lucky. On my second visit, I ordered the beef salad - something I've eaten a lot of in the past - and was nonplussed to find that there was no flavoring on the beef or the salad. Instead, I was served a little plastic container of sauce on the side that I had to pour over myself - once I got the sauce on, it tasted alright, but the beef, which should have been thin and tender, was sliced oddly thick. It was like a sloppy McDonald's version of my usually favorite salad. And everyone else's food, again, just didn't taste good, because again, all the sauces were twice as sweet as they should have been and tasted like corn syrup. Sadly, I now know that there is such a thing as bad mall restaurant version of Thai food. I will never go back to Thai Chili, despite its superconvenient location. Life is too short to eat nasty mediocre food!
The food was outstanding. We had the Thai Chili Dumplings, Him Maparn (Chicken w/Cashews), & Moo Pha (pork w/asparagus & basil - three stars spicy). I love spicy dishes, and when they say spicy here, they mean it! The restaurant is inside the Verizon Center gallery. While the setting isn't romantic, the place was comfortable and clean, the staff was very friendly, and the food was great. I would definitely go again.
I have mixed feelings about my experiences, the first two lunches were great and the service was wonderful but one late weekend with a large group the service was unresponsive. We waited over 20 min for our food and the Manager didn’t seem concerned only to say “our kitchen was closed’.
