Duo Restaurant is a hidden treasure for those seeking a special dining experience tucked in one of Denver's hippest neighborhood, Highland. Duo offers a relaxed and unassuming environment attracting diners who might wish to linger over a cup of coffee, a glass of wine at the bar, or to enjoy a hearty meal. The stylish neighborhood restaurant is elegant and exciting. It's the kind of place you want to show off to those who think they know where all the hot spots are in the City! Duo Restaurant offers a seasonal changing menu with the freshest ingredients available. Choose from a selection of appetizers or entrees that will satisfy the biggest meat eaters or the most discerning vegetarians. But as many food critics and guests note make sure you save room for dessert as Yasmin Lozada-Hissom, Duo's wonderful pastry chef creates magical sweets to finish your meal.
I really love this place. Though it appears a bit noveau at first and a teeny bit pretentious, there is a good deal of neighborhood charm and good food. The service is attentive but not intrusive. Everything I have eaten there is quite good with strong flavors and a sometimes unique twist. The hangar steak is one of my favorites. They change the desserts regularly and the ones I've had were delicious.
Once you walk in you know this is a cool little neighborhood joint. The food is imaginative and very flavorful, the wine list has local stuff and lots of good choices from the northwest (none of which I had heard of but the Cabernet from Washington was great), and the service was genuine and very good. But the best thing about the night was the dessert. Go to the Duo restaurant's website and just read the descriptions of the desserts - ridiculous. The one we had was the Pineapple Coconut Tart - unbelievable. Tasty, light, and overall greatness.
You really can't go wrong with this restaurant. Everything about it was awesome.
