Recently had a late lunch at Bar Americain. The pumpkin soup was YUMMY. I had the Thursday lunch special of chicken cutlet, which was also very good. My collegue had the Kentucky Hot Brown and deemed it to be as soon as the original at Louisville's Brown Hotel.
Seriously, I've dreamt about the soup...
The service and the food was unparalleled by any other restaurant I have ever been to. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves immensely and I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys excellent food and awesome service.
My wife and I stumbled on Bar Americain while looking for another restaurant and decided to try it.Service by Jessica was excellent. We both had the Veal Porterhouse in a fig cabernet vinegarette and it was one of the finest meals I have ever eaten in almost 70 yrs. I highly reccomend Bar Americain.
The venue itself is stunning; the food is good; it could be great. The staff are courteous and helpful. There is no New York attitude that I've heard other reviewers refer to. Its expensive, yes. But this is Manhattan and I've seen much worse for much less. I'd go again in a heart beat.
