Not fine dining as one might expect at first glance, but awesome anyway. Decor is sorta old school house with 40's music and pictures of Frank Sinatra and brood. White table cloths and cloth napkins if that matters to you.
We started the evening with an appetizer special, deep fried artichokes with garlic butter and capers. Honestly, they should be illegal, they were that good. Our server, I think Dottie was her name, was very old school and funny as hell. She suggested the cocktail called Chrysler, after the building in New York (everything is New York-y in here). It was a lemon drop with raspberries. I wanted to order a second because I inhaled mine in about 10 seconds, but I had to resist. I glanced at the wine list and was impressed by their selections, but didn't order any. I ordered Prime Rib which was served perfect medium rare, just like I like it, and it was very flavorful and tender. It had some extra fat on it, but the delish-factor completely overshadowed that one tiny flaw. My dining guest ordered the fish special. It was swordfish and it had fresh crab and hollandaise sauce. She devoured the entire thing after saying it was too much food. OMG...the mushroom soup? Words can't even describe. You just have to try it. They told us they have it most of the time. We ordered a creme brulee against our stomach's wishes, again at Dottie's suggestion. It was one of the best creme brulee's I've ever had and I get creme brulee whenever I see it.
Overall a very good dining experience. The atmosphere was bustling (it was a Friday so they were busy) and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I would defininitely recommend reservations though, because the place is pretty small. Oh yeah, and ask for Dottie! She made the experience just that much better. I will totally come back when the funds allow.
A+ One Fifteen!
