Mill House Steakhouse, Brunswick

My visit on 3/16/12 was terrible. I went inside to check the wait time before I got my 4 kids and wife out of vehicle. Told hostess and waitress the # of kids and adults and that we needed 1 booster and1 high chair. I returned w/ family and hostess acted like I never spoke w/ her. She didn t know where to seat us and I waited 5 min at our table for high chair and booster. Never got it. Hostess was trying to be so cool that she didn t care about what I needed before I brought my family inside. Kids pizza was terrible. I understand that its a steakhouse but they need to take pride in all dishes while adults eat steaks. Steak was fatty (not marbling) on gargonzola steak dish. Poor service, poor food.

THE MILLHOUSE OF BRUNSWICK: Visited the Mill House, it was wonderful,, the best food I have eaten in ages. I commend the chefs. Great location, great parking, friendly people, .. Great desserts, can't say enough about the place, looking forward to eating there again. I highly recommend.

Don t get confused by the pictures, that location is in Jacksonville. In Brunswick, the Millhouse is attached to the Holiday Inn. I have eaten there about 20 times and I must say they have a see-saw success history. I have had atrocious food and I have had good food. I am still waiting for excellent food. The kitchen goes through a kind of re-invention psychosis about every 6 months. The menu changes, then they are pretty good for a while and then they go down hill. Out of 20 visits I had 5-6 good meals. Bar is great and happy hour is good. They have decent snacks and the service is generally good, even though in places young and inexperienced. Managers are always very apologetic when things go wrong.

This was the WORST experience I have ever had in a restaurant. My wife and I have eaten here before with no problems, until last night. We were seated promptly and the Young Lady who was our waitress took our order for drinks. After receiving the drinks, my wife ordered a fish dinner and I ordered a Prime Rib dinner. We received our meals and began our meal, my wifes fish was FROZEN in the middle and was RAW. We signaled the waitress and she rushed it back to the kitchen, while I wanted to enjoy my Prime Rib while it was warm, I could not cut it with the furnished knife, it was so tough and over done as I ordered Medium. I turned the meat over and it obviously was an end piece which was overcooked, and was terrible. Meanwhile after 20 minutes of my wife still waiting for her fish, and waiting 15 minutes for our additional drink order, I demanded to speak to a Manager. My wife still had not received her meal and mine was not decent to eat. The manager finally came to our table and apologized, but did not offer to replace my meal or even deliver my wife's meal. I told him I would not pay for the terrible meal I had delivered and would pay for the drinks only. All he stated was that he hoped we would give them another chance, in a future date. He did not at any time offer to redo our meals to our satisfaction. He said he saw the fish and I do not know why he did not have it served to my wife after re-cooking it. At this very frustrating time, my drink was still sitting on the Bar waiting for delivery to my table. I pointed out to the waitress that I would like my drink, after it has sat for 15 minutes. This was the most terrible experience I have ever had at a restuarant. We left without our meal, and was very late for a Church function after we ate at a different restaurant on St. Simons Island. Someone needs to review this situation that happened last night 12/06/2008 at 8PM at the Brunswick Mill House on the Golden Isles Parkway.

I did not have a good experience at the Millhouse in Brunswick and will never go back. The food was good but the wait staff was too young and rude.

Food generally very good but menu way too extensive. Better to concentrate on what they do best - steaks. Generally expensive, good bar staff, and had a great waitress. Definitely loud but who cares! Worth visiting when you have the time to wait and the money for fairly expensive items. Wine way too pricey for the quality.

My family and I have been to Mill House several times and have always enjoyed our dining experience. The service and the food are great. The bar is in the dining area of the restaurant, but we have never experienced any problems. Anytime we have family come in from out of town, this is one place we take them to.

While the food and the value was good, We had to endure 1.5 hours of a drunken group at the bar that got louder by the minute. A fight nearly broke out between this group and a family that had small children because of the langauge being used. The bartender continued serving this group even after several tables had asked to be moved from the area. I talked with the manager as we left the restaruant and informed him that I would be contacting the local police department to insure this group did not get onto the road and if one of them happened to get into a accident, he, the bartender, and the restuarant owner could be held liable. I believe when situations escalate like this one, it shows improper training of the supervisors and staff and creates at the least, an unpleasant dining experience and perhaps even a dangerous environment. I think that the MillHouse Steakhouses could benefit from more training on how to handle unruly patrons. Thanks.
