Ozeki Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar
An authentic Japanese restaurant, Ozeki's menu contains such items as sashimi, shrimp tempura, miso soup, seaweed salad, fried rice, barbeque eel, chicken teriyaki, deep fried tofu, and marinated beef.
When you walk into Ozeki's there's a greeting right away. The service is quick and attentive. Then the food comes out and all is good. If a person has any desire to have sushi, this is the place to go.
Ozeki Restaurant is amazing. I honestly have nothing bad to say about the place, because everything is delicious and the people are so nice there, very welcoming and kind. Best sushi in town hands down and I encourage everyone to go. Don't knock sushi until you try some of Ozeki's; they know how to make it!!
5 stars yo.
On a grand scale, with the high end being Japan and the low end being Tijuana, Mexico, Ozeki is somewhere between 3 or 4 stars, which is about the same for most sushi restaurants in Seattle. Being it's in Yakima, I'd give it a 5 star for Yakima, which balances out to a final 4 star.
The prices are a bit high, but heck look at its location - transporting fresh seafood over the Cascade's is not cheap. And given the freshness required, these are daily or every other day trips.
That said, the menu is definately designed for gaijins (racially non-Japanese, principally Caucasians). So the menu here is like many Korean owned Japanese restaurants in the US, the food is geared to western taste, while having some Korean influences. This is not a bad thing. It's just hard to compare this to authentic japanese food you would find in Japan.
So, a good place for asian (Japanese / Korean) food ... and the sushi is pretty good as well.
i have been to ozekis a few times and i absolutely love the restaurant! the sushi is so amazing, its better then any place here in yakima and even better then a lot of places that i've eaten at in seattle.
i also love the owners of the restaurant, they always remember me by name and greet me more friendly then a lot of other places. the service is awesome, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the food is delicious. definitely one of my favorite restaurants!
I went to Ozeki with my boyfriend, and we were both very impressed with the service and the food. The waitresses were all friendly, and made sure we were taken care of. The food was incredible as well. I recommend this restaurant to all those who want quality japanese food. It was an overall great experience.
First i would like to say that i will never go back to this restaurant again! i and my family went for the first time being we live here in yakima and have for quiet a while. i love japanese food and my fiancee has never eaten it before. we get there and tell the waitress that this is our first time eating here and that my fiancee has never eaten japanese food before. we order our food and an appetizer and drinks. after we got our food which was good we never had our waitress EVER ask us if we needed anything again. there was only one waitress and alot of people eating there so that is poor management. i and my fiancee drank our water and our pops and half way through our meals we had nothing to drink. we placed our cups on the out edge of the table empty and the one waitress never got us anymore drink or water. the single waitress was very poor and not friendly at all. again the food was good but the tip that was left tells the story as to how good it was when it comes to wait staff and their ability to serve the paying customer. WHAT TIP??? as we were leaving another waitress showed up and apologized for the other bad waitress and her not doing her job. do not recommend anyone eat there. if you go i would advise you to take your own drinks or water and you want need extra money for a tip because you won't have a waitress after getting your food. after sitting for a while after completing our meal we waited for the bill and finally had to get up and go to the front and have the newly arrived waitress take our money. stop at 7 eleven and get pop then go and eat it will be more enjoyable.
I read the other reviews posted for this place, and I have to say I think those people writing those reviews must own the restaurant or work there! I lived in Seattle before this, and in a few other states before that. I have been eating sushi for thirteen years now, and I have to say that is the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten at. The prices are ridiculous, and very unreasonable. $15.00 for one roll!!! You have to be kidding me-there are wonderful Japanese restaurants in Seattle that sell amazing sushi for about half the price. My husband had the donburi bowl, and I think they had heated it up in the microwave. The topper was when we had only been there for 40 minutes, and the waitress gave us our bill without asking if we needed anything else, and came over five minutes later and told us to pay in the next five minutes because she had to leave. Lastly, all I have to say is they include potato salad as a side dish with some of their meals. Potato salad!!!!!! Enough said!
