Extremely displeased with arrogance
I cannot comment on how well this charter is at its trade, however, I can comment on their presence around the Baileys Harbor Marina. I would have liked to comment on their trade, but as I was on my way to talk to them regarding setting up an outing, I decided against it due to their arrogant behavior and absolute disrespect to those around them.
I was sitting at the marina mid-morning, awaiting the arrival of the charter to discuss the earliest opening that they had available for an outing for my family and I. As we were sitting there, we saw a boat coming into the harbor screaming at the boat in front of it. It appeared that the first boat was waiting for the boat in front of it to get pulled out of the water, as is common in public marinas. However, the captain of First Choice II had a few ‘choice’ words for this boat that was waiting. The captain explicitly explained to this boat that the marina is Private Business before it is a Public Launch, and to get out of his way! It was at this point that we decided to take our business elsewhere.
We came back to the marina later that night to watch the sunset from the end of the pier. As we were leaving, we had to wait to get off the pier as this charter decided to drive his truck out to their slip (which is the first slip, about a 10 foot walk) and block us from exiting. We could not get around their truck to exit the pier with our stroller because there was not enough room on either side of the vehicle. The captain and his crew stood there and kept going on their conversation, even though they saw us standing there waiting. At this point, I was glad that I did not bring my business to them.
Finally, a day later as we were walking out to the end of the pier, we saw an artist painting the landscape of the pier. When we came back off the pier, we noticed that there was now the truck that blocked us from leaving the pier parked directly in front of the artist, totally blocking the view for the painter, and not even in a parking spot. As we got closer, we heard the captain yelling at the painter for being out there with an easel in a place of business. Apparently the artist was parked in the spot that the captain prefers to park in (which is not a reserved parking spot) and the captain wanted to park there.
In the three times that we went to the marina, we had three extremely negative experiences with this charter, and I can’t imagine what would have happened had we came back for a fourth. Again, I cannot comment on their trade, but I can comment on their lack of respect for those around them. In a place like Door County where everyone goes out of their way to be nice, this charter does the opposite!
