We stayed in the stand alone house, about 7 miles from town, which is on a working farm. Liked the location-in the country but close to main street. House was immaculate. Kitchen super well appointed.Huge Master bed and bath. Owner was an excellent communicator. Hubby and I slept great, but other 3 family members in upstairs bedroom and loft did not due to roosters and donkeys( I think ?)keeping them awake all night. The queen bed in second room was so soft it caved to the middle with two slim adults in it. Son's rollaway not real comfortable, but what rollaways are? We could not rent again because of the bed and sound issue, but some people may not be bothered by that. Kids would probably love this place because of the animals.
I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very friendly. The location is great as it's equidistant to some of the major wineries as well as Fredericksburg. We were able to drive 5-10 min into town and 5-10 to the wineries. I was a bit nervous about staying here when I saw the photos online, but it definitely does NOT do the place justice. There are three cute cabins when you drive in that would be perfect for a 3-couple getaway. The horses are friendly and are right outside the cabin. The host is very friendly and sweet. She couldn't make us breakfast in the AM cause she got in late so she gave us coupons to a restaurant in town (I forget the place's name but it was downstairs and I had a duck omelet that was incredible!). Chuck who gives the horse rides gave us a special one as we went to look for some missing cattle. Although we didn't get to go as fast as we wanted trotting and galloping, it was still very nice and beautiful to be out in the countryside. He was a trooper too because he had just broken his wrist and he stayed out as long as he could with us so we'd have a good time (near the end we could tell he was hurting). The insides of the cabins were perfectly decorated and very comfortable. This place was really great and I would absolutely 110% recommend this.
