Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Mt Pleasant

Construction has just begun on their permenant building in I'On in August of 2006. This will be the only Byzantine structure in Mt. Pleasant with massive masonry walls, a dome and orthodox interior decoration. Until the permenant building can be occupied, the congregation meets at Ascenscion Books on I'On Square where drawings of the permenant church building can be viewed. Full decoration of the church will take a generation or more, but nothing like it exists in the area.
