Northbrook Canoe Company, West Chester

Northbrook Canoe Company has a lovely rustic atmosphere, which is inviting to both city-dwellers and country folk. The staff are always helpful and ready to answer any questions such as "is the water wet?' with good humor(they told us that they really did have people ask them that. Though there are roads closed in the area their website was most helpful with directions. Well, all in all it's a wonderful place for a good time. I especially loved the 1 1/2 trip, it was beautiful! We'll definately go back for another trip!

Nice place tp take your family. The employees are very nice and helpful and the rates are reasonable. I recommend this place for any family that is looking for some summer fun. :)

I realize that this may be a silly reason to love a canoe-rental place, but every one of Northbrooks's signs was lovingly painted by an art student. They are whimsical, creative, funny, and just about the most, well, SUMMERTIMIE-i-est things ever. I'd give Northbrook six stars for atmosphere, if I could. Totally worth the trip.

When calling to make a reservation to rent a canoe for 2 adults and 2 children, the Northbrook Canoe Company employee who answered the telephone hung up on me, while I was in mid-sentence. They allow 2 children under the age of 10. I told her my recently turned 11 year old and 8 year old weighed a total of 110 lbs and that the 2 adults were also of smaller stature and weight. Instead of a polite response, she hung up, while I was in mid-sentence! Their policy states that they have a weight limit of 3 adults per canoe. I accept that, but what is that weight limit? I have a hard time accepting the rude response. Is it a policy to force customers with 2 children to rent 2 canoes? A week ago we put in a reservation at Northbrook Canoe Company, by telephone, for a canoe and told them that there would be 2 adults and 2 children. We had to call and cancel, but there was no mention that a 10 year old was considered an adult.
