This was the worst coffee I ever tasted. It had a burnt, over roasted taste to it. The service was VERY SLOW to the point I felt Ignored for the most part. The gelato was frost bitten and taste like is was laying arownd for a while. You could tell they dont sell alot of it. For a great cup of coffee try Cafe Gelato across the street next to the Downtowner Motel. You will be impressed with the fast and frendly service. They also make their gelato homemade from family recipies.
FYI: It's always fresh & I can also pick up WiFi on my laptop there.
I had to laugh at the previous post because I had a very similar experience. I went to Starbucks and didn't feel like standing in line. I went to Uncommon Grounds - I had no idea how to negotiate this place and I guess I was the one who was standing in the wrong place - like there is a place. I stood at the counter for several minutes and tried to get someone's attention - I was completely ignored and wasn't filled in on the "correct" place to stand. So I left and went back to Starbucks where I knew exactly where to stand to get served. I might give them another shot - not anytime soon,
Please let me describe an unpleasent visit to your business: I walked up to the register and waited my turn, next to other people. No one was left, the clerks just looked at me and they started talking to each other, I became annoyed. I am standing there with money in my hand and they won't take my order. I said HELLO AND WAVED can you take my order. They told me I had to move to the glass cases. Your employees are rude and obnoxious. The female clerk was obviously disturbed that I had to announce myself as I did.
I have never stopped raving about Uncommon Grounds - I lived in Saratoga about 13 years ago, and was a daily patron... The bagels awesome, the coffee, hot, the deserts out of this world, and the freshest OJ in NY State! My husband and I went to Saratoga a year ago and that was the first place I went to with him. He loved it as much as I did! After all the years, it was perfect. Thanks for everything!
This place would make a great sociological study: find the worst espresso possible, tart the place up as a neo-hippie hangout with appropriate paintings and other furnishings (will someone get a copy of "The Bell Jar" and casually leave it on a table?!) and then watch as legions of devotees line up for the undrinkable espresso! The coffee here is nasty: a bitter, burnt-tasting blend of several incompatible bean types. If your palette is sensitive, run like hell away from Uncommon Grounds. Unfortunately, Saratoga Springs is not a coffee Mecca, so you'll be running a long way.
