Thurston Academy, Plymouth

I love thurston academy for the staff members because they are all very nice and intelligeny martial artists. i personally love sensei alison thurston because if you watch her classes you can see how much she knows about your kids and how she actually pays attention to them. on the other hand sensei garet thinks he is the wise guy when he is not. So stop bein the wise guy and pay attention. Sempei olivia is great with the kids. She is a very outgoin 13 yr old. She also pays attention to the kids unlike sensei garet. But i truelly love sensei joe. he is so amazig awesome instructor. They also have movie nights and halloween pparties for 20 dollars games pizza popcorn and a FREE babysitter. I love thurston academy!

Nice people, good discipline there, very knowledgeable Cons - keep that contract in hand and keep in mind when the cut-offs are for renewing - you have a very small window to cancel- its very hard - basically not possible to get out of a contract due to non-interest of child, losing job, etc..... I've heard a lot of disgruntled people who had a terrible time trying to get out of the dojo without having 3 to 4 months of membership tagged on.

Thurston Academy of Martial Arts is an amazing school offering classes for real people. The instructors are very kind, hardworking and great with students of all ages. If you are at all interested in Martial Arts training, you should without a doubt check out this dojo.

Thurston Academy is a great place to learn Karate(as well as bjj, kickboxing, and self defense). I have been taking karate hear fo 7 years and i really enjoy it.

this place is so expensive its crazy, plus he charges $20 for a kids to come there for movie night, he charges for tournamaent , his equipment is double the price of everywhere else. ALL I CAN SAY IS LOOK AROUND i bet you will find the same education for half the price...oh and did i mention he makes you use a debit card like a gym and makes you do a 6 month commitment or at least be charged for one....all i can say is this place isnt about the kids its about the dollar!

A school with many long-term members - you either love it or you leave it (and bad mouth it!). Disgruntled former members will always try to influence other people, but be the master of your own opinions and try it out for yourself. I have seen numerous other martial arts schools (not just karate) which are nothing more than glorified after-school play dates. If you want your child to develop principles, solid morals and a strong work ethic (as well as the techniques to protect themselves), then come to the school and observe a couple of classes. Besides regular classes, there are occasional kids movie nights (where can you get 3 hours of safe babysitting including food for $20???) as well as birthday parties. This school is definitely child-friendly.

My Daughter and I are both students at Thurston Acadamy. The training couldnt be better. The higher rank students that help out with the class are all trained very well. Sensei Joe is the most easy going guy I know and when he does have to speak to a student about something there is a pretty good reason. He is very professional about everything he does so I dont understand anyone complaining about this Martial arts school or any of its instructors. Again EXCELLENT !!!!!!!

I have been going to Thurston Academy for just about 8 months now, I take the cadio kickboxing three times a week and I enjoy it very much. Everyone there is very professional, knowledgable, friendly and love what they do. This is the first workout that I have found that I really enjoy and never want to miss a class. I recommend this Academy to everyone, and was very surprised by some of the negative comments. Joe and his wife Allison are wonderful people and are doing a great job.

I absolutley love Thurston Academy.My four year old takes the karate class and he really loves it.He raves about Sensi Joe and can not wait to see him every week.I take the cardio kickboxing class and it is the best thing i have ever done.Sensi is tough and works us really hard but the work out is unbelievable!!I can not rave enough about the place.Thank you for all your hard work!!!!!

As a former teacher of many grade levels,I have only one word for Sensei Joe and the academy...EXCELLENT! Better yet,as Mother Teresa would say,"Come and see." I am more than impressed with Mr.Thurston.The Native Americans have a saying which describes Sensei very well.He is a real human being!
