Dogtown Book Shop, Gloucester

My 6 year old son and I went in one afternoon and went back to the childrens section, which was cute. On our way out of the store my son happened to see a cool looking book lying on top of another pile and gently touched the cover. The big bearded male owner came over and yelled at both me and my son exclaiming "The children's section is over there!" This made us both very afraid and we dashed out of there. I have never been treated with such disrespect as a customer and as an avid book lover and collecter, will find another place to look for books. If your an adult, it IS a great place to find rare items, but beware, you just might find yourself feeling a little creeped out or mistreated.

This is a small shop filled with treasures, some that connect with memories of childhood places and some that are thrillingly unexpected. I have been there on every trip to Gloucester and it is one of my favorite places. The owner has a wealth of information to offer about books and about the area; he is also happy to leave you alone to browse at your leisure. I have never left the store without buying several (or more) books, and when I'm at home in California reading them, I am dreaming about my next trip and wondering what I might find.
