Epworth-by-the-Sea, St Simons Island

Having been raised on church camps, I wondered what to expect when I was chosen to attend a week long conference at Epworth By The Sea. I was pleasantly surprised! The setting is beautiful, the people wonderful, and resources top notch. Though not a five star hotel, it compares favorably with the best of the cheaper motel chains (e.g. Red Roof Inn). If you choose to eat on site, you will be served a buffet of good food from a variety of traditions during the course of a week. Whether traveling as an individual, as a couple, or as a family, Epworth By The Sea comes with a strong recommendation.

From time to time, denominational or non denominational facilities will allow others to use &/or rent thier place. Such was the case in 1981. I was about 14 and in the youth group of Statesboro New Covenant Church. (non denominational) I had just gotten saved and Epworth proved to be an essential building block. Speaking as a non Methodist, I am very impressed by the staff there and the facility that housed some life changing services. I do not know if Epworth By The Sea still allows those outside of the Methodist fold to use the facilities, but if they do, I would say, If you CAN go there, please DO go there.
