Fort Mountain State Park, Chatsworth

This was a beautiful well kept state park, with alot more than the usual place to swim, paddle boats, john boats, but the fish were not biting this day.

We went up the 75/ 411 way on way back to Ellijay......... Coming from Chattsworth was like wow. You see this big mtn right beside the town, the drive up be careful..... the park was nice, we tried paddle boats, we tried to fish no luck. We did a few short hikes.. Camped 2 nights in the walk in area. Would not recommend that unless fit and parking caused car damage for me. They have huge bolders could not see in low car.NOT enough parking for the 4 walk ins and we had to pull up on side, scratched bottom front bumper pretty bad which upset me,with few on front. They need to change this. We saw deer and heard owls. Clean nice park great views. Shower are was one of the best I seen this year camping,Lake in better shape than Vogel.

We spent the week after Christmas here for many years. Occasionally it looked like a winter wonderland and you can expect to get some serious fog during that time of the year so driving can be dangerous. If you like to hike there are some great hiking trails. The park and cabins were always very clean and the staff was always friendly.
