Lumpkin Cafe, Athens

In a world of chain restaurants, it was a relief to find this little gem when traveling in athens. The Lumpkin cafe is set in a quaint old stone house, and has a friendly staff that seems to know all of the customers by name. The waiter left to get my wife and I's drinks and the couple at the table next to us made sure that we knew what they thought the best dish on the menu was. The steak salad...... Another table disagreed and insisted we try the tarragon chicken salad which they come for every week. We ordered one of each and both were equally worth coming back for the next time we are in town. highly recommended for the quality of the food and the friendliness of the customers and staff.

With the heat and construction in the area we found this cafe to be a perfect place to escape to. The orange iced tea quenched and the tarragon chicken salad with fresh fruit was exactly what we needed to continue shopping.Humorously helpful staff guided us to the cool shops in the area.
