Dog Lover
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/09
I am finally enjoying the Cab/Sauv we bought over a year ago. It is smooth and clean. My family and I were bicycling in the area, and I had heard of the winery more than 3 years ago. Having had a Ridgeback for many years, my curiosity piqued me. The dogs drew me in, but the wine made me stay. We'll be back.

Great fun on a Sunday afternoon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/16/08
We were out for a traditional family drive anyway.Mt.Dora seemed like fun on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon on March.Once there we saw the signs to Ridgeback winery and were curious.Free wine tastings, plenty of small town athmosphere but best of all those delicious wines were plentifull. They do not sell online which is quite a shame .All the same worth the trip. One word of caution.Access is difficult for elederly people. It is up a small hill and on the second floor of a building.Stairs were a problem for my mother but we made it with some extra effort. They need to post access signs pointing to a back portion of the building.

Puppy love

Ridgeback winery is named after the Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs that the owner & wife raise. Their wine labels contain pictures of the dogs with inventive names. They get thier grape concentrates from New York state so you won't find any of the Florida native Muscat varieties. What you do find are high quality vintages of the more normal merlot, pinot noir, shiraz, etc. They also occasionally (like now -2007) have ice wine. If you hav never tried it ... it is well worth the cost. Congenial atmosphere, friendly folk, and great wine. They even have some award winners.

Great experience!
By Robin, 07/17/06
Lots of fun...owners very hospitalbe. The man who makes the wine was serving the samples. He gave lots of information about each wine and was very entertaining as well. The wines were great, and very reasonable. We will return again!
